USF-Rutgers

Wow. Great football game. Must win for Rutgers. If they had any designs on doing better than the Papajohn's bowl this was a must. They are back in it. Ray Rice was a monster.

As far as the game, Schiano was brilliant. He saw opportunities and went with it. If he kicked the fg's or punted the ball instead of the fakes the Scarlet Knights lose the game. No risk, no reward. Sometimes being conservative and managing the game bites you at the end. I think the punt and fake field goal really charged Rutgers up. You got to play to win. It's fine line between risky and stupid, but Schiano took some great risk tonight that paid off. Schiano showed confidence in his team.

As far as USF, self destructed on special teams, and what the heck was Grothe and the offensive doing on those final two possessions. They started at the Rutgers 40 and 49 and all they needed was a field goal.

It's not rocket science. Have Grothe use his legs to make plays. He was facing a monster pass rush and he stood in the pocket like Byron Leftwich after he broke his ankle. Ridiculous.

Then, he gets caught for a sack on first down and spikes it for third and 22? Awful job. Roll Grothe out there and let him use his legs. I really don't get it.

Is UConn alone atop the Big East?

The good news is that Uconn is leading the Big East, who would have ever thought we would be saying that this season anyways? The bad news, just one person's opinion, is that Uconn's play-calling is too conservative. And that includes on defense and special teams / gadget plays. I'm concerned that we are going to give Brohm all day in the pocket, hope I'm wrong and pleasantly suprised. Uconn is clearly a much better team this season compared to last year, I hope we do everything to accentuate the parts that are improved. By the way, it would be great to see a Uconn receiver grow into the mold of Britt & Underwood of RU (become a game changer). Wonder how the KY Hammer's arm is?

Bob...no need to worry about Brohm standing in the pocket too long tonight. If he does, he drowns.

Torrential rains will turn this into a run, run and then run again fest.

Should be interesting...or ugly.

I'll be there with my rain gear. Hope everyone else will.

I agree, the weather will play a large role in determining offensive schemes today. This could be an opportunity to use both the talented Uconn running backs together and keep the ball on the ground. Special teams will also play a large role, if Uconn can force Louisville deep into their own territory it will change the game. Thats a lot of ifs but maybe the rain can be the best thing that happens for them today.
