Here is the Taylor play. It is clear he puts his arm up. Reading the rules, that is not a legal fair catch. So, it is not a clear fair catch as people are saying...BUT...it is an illegal fair catch. He made a motion to the sky and that stopped the punt coverage. That by definition is an illegal fair catch. Should have been a penalty.
What does that mean?
First off, Taylor must have thought he didn't fair catch it because he ran right away. You are taught to play the whistle, bad job by Louisville. They quit on the play, is it a tough break? Yup.
Now, at 7-7 it is tied and there is a long way to go. Louisville has no one to blame but themselves. 17-7 with 11 minutes left and the best quarterback, and one of the best offenses in the country didn't get it done. The defense olayed it in the fourth quarter.
What is UConn supposed to do after that play? Stop playing? Give points back? This isn't like Temple because that was the final play of the game. Louisville had ample chances to make up for that play, and did indeed take a 17-7 lead. There was so much game left that the entire game doesn't hinge on that play.
It's an important play, and a tough break, but Louisville quit on the play and then squandered a 17-7 lead in the fourth.
You can't whine about that. They had chance to win and a double digit lead in the final quarter. It ws a bad call for Louisville, but it wasn't a game winning or losing call.

I agree that Louisville blew their lead on their own, but I disagree about the bad call not being a game winning or losing call. If UConn had come back and won by more than the 7 points that bad call got them then I would agree, but they didn't. Had it not been for that call it could have (and could not have) been a completely different game. Just another way to look at it.
That is my video you linked here. The UConn player CHEATED, there is no if ands or buts about it. He even admitted skirting the rules after the game. If he was coached to do so, the coach needs to be punished and so does this player. I haven't checked to see if he is a senior, but for the sake of his health, he better be.
and one more thing, if it is discovered that he was coached to cheat, then I believe that UConn should forfeit this contest.
