Live game thread USF

Little late. On the desk last night, and didn't get a chance to breathe.

Here are quick

Keys to the game:

1. Protect Lorenzen
Can't allow Selvie to run wild. Give Lorenzen time

2. Contain Grothe running
Got to stay disciplined and not lose outside contain and allow Grothe to make too many plays on the run. Force him to be a pocket passer.

3. Win turnover battle
UConn is +11, USF +10. Winner here wins the game.

Pregame Chatter:Looks like a lot of tents up. The weather is weird. It should be colder than it is. The rain is semi warm and there is a warm breeze. It is fogging up all the windows. Not muggy, though it is a bit uncomfortable. Steady win blowing from student section end to the scoreboard. Should be interesting.

First quarter

Update 3:47 p.m.: Great opening drive stalls at the 4. Three straight running plays on 1st and 10 from the 11? I don't get it. 3-0. Like Virginia, gotta hope it doesn't come back to bite.

BTW, monsoon broke out. Dry in the tower though.

1st Quarter wrap: 3-0 Huskies. Two missed Fgs by USF. The 26-yarder that was missed was a very difficult kick in the conditions. 46 yarder was too. Lorenzen INT should have ben caught by Kanuch, though it was a throw into triple coverage. UCOnn needs a passing game. Tyler has time, no one open.

In honor of the Breeders Cup. UConn is a mudder.

Second quarter

Update 4:35 p.m.: Brouse TD! Then, Lutrus comes up with INT off a tip from Williams and run back for a 26-yard touchdown. Wow. 16-0 UConn. Taking to USF now. Just flat out taking it out on USF.

Halftime wrap: Andre Dixon 19 rushes 115 yards at the half. Had a chance there on the final drive but couldn't get 3 or 4 more yards for Ciaravino. A bungled play and a spike probably cost the Huskies a legit chance at points. GReat job by the Huskies controlling Grothe. Grothe 4-8 40 yards passing and 10 rushes 46 yards. Only one big broken play got the USF offense inside the 10.

Third quarter

Update 5:50 p.m. Safety on blocked punt not terrible. But, you can't score 63 seconds in 29 seconds. 9 points in one minute. 5:38 back. 16-9. That was a critical missed tackle on Grothe 55 plus yard run. That's the big play that has killed UConn.
