Live Virginia Game thread

Pregame: Scott Stadium and the campus are beautiful. Open air press box which gives the feeling of sitting in the stadium. UVA fans everywhere. Classy too, women in dresses, men in khaki pants and UVA hats.

Be back with any pregame news.

First quarter:

Update (3:43): Deleston finally makes a pick. Good drive down and Tony C a 46 yarder for a 3-0 UConn lead. That's a good start.

Update: 3:47: Fumble on kickoff by UVA. Cody Brown recover. Ball on 13. Big opportunity here.

Update 3:39: Bad job by UConn. Got to take points inside the 10, but a 21 yard field goal feels like UVA scored. 10-0 would be huge. 6-0? Feels like UVA scored. If you aren't going to go for it on 4th down -- why not play action?

Update (4:!4): UVA drives down for the go ahead score. Got to stop the QB from running. 7-6 UVA 38 seconds left.

Halftime update: Sorry about updates, bad net connection. Anyhow, Huskies can' be feeling too good. Had a golden opportunity to go up 10-0 and couldn't get a yard on second and 1 from the 4 to go up 6-0.

Also, had a chance to make a play on Seweell on third and 7, but Dan Davis can't get him down. 18 yards later drive is alive and a running back pass leads to a 14-6 score. You get off the field there it's 7-6.

Finally D.J. Hernandez fumbles it at the VA 5. If you are going to win games on the road like this you got to score TDs deep, and don't commit turnovers (especially in the red zone).

Jekyl and Hyde play calling. Don't go for it it inside the 4-yard line early and settle for 3. Elect to kick a 52 yard field goal on 4th and 4 that wasn't close (I would have went for it). You got to be a little more aggressive. Kind of like playing with house money.

First sustained drive of the half ends with a turnover inside the 5. Tough break. Game is far from over, but UConn has already missed out on 3 or 4 potentially game changing plays.

THird quarter:

Update 5:26: Vaughn INT. 1st and goal at the 6. UConn has to punch this in.

Update: Brouse TD off play action. UConn TD. 14-13. Coaching staff must be reading the blog. Love play action down inside the 10.

Update: Huskies left a play on the field. Brouse open on play action may have went for a TD. Bad pass by Lorenzen, but Brouse still should have caught it. Another one left out there.

Fourth quarter

14-13. UConn defense has been excellent. Another turnover would be huge. Offense can't sustain drives. At 14-13 however, one play can change the game.

Update 6:14 p.m.: UConn up 16-14. Defense is going to have to win this. Once again, inside 10 and can't put it down. Don't like 2nd down run with Lou Allen. Lou doesn't seem to get to the line fast enough. Alose, 3rd down fade to the endzone? Didn't need a score, needed 3 yards for a first down. 16-14 though, 8 minutes left. Defense is going to win this game.

Update 6:31 p.m.: UVA field go. Couple of big plays 19 yard FG. 17-16. UConn has plenty of time left and a couple of timeouts. 3:20 left. GREAT FOOTBALL GAME!!!

Update: I don't know what just happened. Bad snap loses 21 yards. Then a bad snap leads to a TO. They had this game in the pocket. Stunning turn of events.
