It makes Cal-Stanford look like fullback dive. Will find it on youtube in the coming days.
Anyhow, here are some more thoughts:
I don't know whether to laugh or cry at Georgia's antics against Florida. I understand that no one likes Urban Meyer (understatement), but the entire Georgia offense comes on the field to celebrate on coach's orders?
That was ridiculous. He was going to make them run if they didn't get a celebration penalty? Does anyone know how ridiculous that is? He is lucky a riot didn't break out. Imagine if Randy Edsall pulled that here?
Then again, it was Urban Meyer on the other sideline...
Watched College Game Day Final, and the UConn-USF highlights were awful. It was so bad a package I gotta wonder if it was intentional (or incompetent?). I couldn't stop laughing at it. I thought it was funny in a Brittany Spears way.
They start with the holding call (don't show a replay) and then with the dropped passed. Then they show the 4th down pass and a voice over saying Grothe was sacked the play before. Lou Holtz smiles and says something about credibility. Mark May says that now Randy Edsall is on the short list for a BIG job.
What?
As the Guiness guy says... BRILLIANT.
I couldn't stop laughing. It was about as bad as it gets for television highlight segments. It had to have been intentional. No one is that bad at their job. At least show Robinson's sack, that was the play of the game and summed up USF's ineptitude.
It was so bad I laughed.
More thoughts.
- West Virgina 31, Rutgers 3. Scary. That Mountaineer team is scary.L
- Louisville finally caught a break. I don't see them apologizing for the victory.
- Missed Jim Leavitt's postgame presser (if you can call it that). Pretty embarrassing as far as I am concerned from what people told me (I missed it because it lasted 2 minutes). From what I understand, everything was "Yep", "no" and that was it. Why even bother? These are adult men, be a professional and answer questions in complete sentences. You can be sarcastic, aggressive, cranky and even unruly. But he didn't even make it to the interview room. After watching him on the sideline last week against Rutgers (I thought he was going to Woody Hayes a player) then this performance, I gotta say he reminds me a lot of my 7 year old nephew. Bad loss for the Bulls, but Leavitt has to grow up. That is so high school football coach (or prep hockey coach, they are the worst). If Al Golden and Steve Kragthorpe can talk after their losses, Leavitt can talk after his.
- Larry Taylor made a fair catch signal and the entire press box started to laugh. He waved it like a mad man. The special teams guy from USF came down and started to talk with him after the catch, funny stuff. And what was the deal about USF saying they were going to plant Taylor?
- Watched the security guards try to stop the fans pouring on the field. Why do they have part timers making 8 bucks an hour try and stop a mob? If UConn wants them on there, let them go. It just shouldn't be an every week, or even every year happening. I don't know the Big East's rule, but Kentucky was just fined $50,000 for the LSU celebration (3rd offense). Best thing I heard was a poor yellow coat with an ice pack around his hand goes up to his supervisor. "You got to have a better plan than this." Of course, the goalpost was protected. No word if Desi Cullen took a shot at it.
- Sexy bowl matchups. How about UConn-BC in the Orange Bowl and call it the Armagedon Bowl? Heck, it may happen in the Gator or the Meinike Bowl. It's a sports writers dream. The schools hate each other. I don't think BC would be happy about it. They want nothing to do with UConn. Actually, it would a unfortunate for both.
