I can not say how big a win this is for UConn football (story up). There comes a point when you have to stop building and start winning. This building mentality has been in since I was a student at UConn. It's always been about building and patience. It was never about the moment.
The Huskies were good for a couple of surprises in the Orlovsky years, but there wasn't really a ton to get excited about. Yes, the novelty of a bowl, but no one thought UConn was going to a major bowl game. You went for the party, and believed that maybe one day UConn would have a shot...
It just seemed so far off in the distance. Patience for something that would never come. I don't know what is going to happen more this year. The schedule is tough and the Huskies could very well struggle coming in. But, things have fallen in place nicely for them.
And as I have said before, the fun is in the journey.
As the Huskies are on the brink of their first Top 25 appearance (how about that?) the future is finally here.
Randy Edsall, who has always downplayed wins and has tried and take the pressure of his team knows it better than anyone else.
Edsall couldn't down play this win. And he didn't. He is going to enjoy this one. It looked liked he wanted to go out and play Rutgers later today. The fans stormed the field, the players celebrated, and Randy even was caught swearing (according to him) on national television.
That is college football. Students on the field cheering on players and singing the UConn fight song. The band playing for an hour after the game. Who would have thought?
UConn suddenly thinking anything is possible. And the thing is, anything is possible now.
You all excited yet?

Thanks John...love your writing style. It is in the journey and anything is possible from here on out.
One game at a time though. Bring on Rutgers please.
That game was awesome. The crowd was the loudest I have ever heard. Biggest win in UCONN Football history so far. Great stepping stone for the program. Keep up the good work John.
