Really good stuff here this week. I got a lot of interviews to transcribe and some good stories. Or, maybe I am more positive this week than last. But, some good stuff.
First off, Andre Dixon is now the official starter at running back. I am not surprised. Dixon sat or about 15 minutes with us and is as real as you can be. He has an edge to him, and I like that.
He really provides a tremendous amount of energy to the offense. As far as Brown? He is going to see time, but Donald is putting too much pressure on himself and is thinking and over analyzing ever single play. That's his big problem. Just got to clear his head and get a confidence boost.
Also talked with guards Lawrence Green and Alex LaMagdelaine who both are doing well. It's 50-50 who will start. Green is nearly 100 percent after tearing his MCL and PCL in the right knee 5 weeks ago. He rehabbed it, and it is good now. He hasn't discussed surgery after the season yet.
Also, LaMagdelaine had a right high ankle sprain. He is ok and should be able to play. Both are good options. Alex LaMagdelaine is a really valuable player. He can go in play both guard spots and a center. Don Thomas' shoulder is also all right per Green.
Epithath on Taylor: Yes, yes, I know.
LT, nor Tyvon Branch, were allowed to speak to the media this week. Edsall refused to comment on it one last time.
Personal opinion? I think Tranghese had the right view. Whether Taylor intentionally made a fake fair catch (I don't think that is true) or just ran after the whistle wasn't blow, it's up to the official to make a call. I don't think Taylor intentionally did it. And it certainly wasn't a planned play. Everyone stopped playing and blocking. So it isn't in the UConn special team package.
Officials screwed up, that was a bad as one as I have ever seen, but it happens. Seriously though, that may be one of the worst official blunders of all time. It ruined the game for both teams.
It reminds me of professional wrestling when the only guy who doesn't see the good guy get hit over the head by the chair is the referee, who is off arguing with the manager. Everyone saw the play except the guy who counted. It's just ridiculous. Anyhow, it's over. For good as far as I am concerned.
Lastly, chatted with Anthony Sherman for the first time. Decent stuff about him being a fullback. BC offered, he liked UConn's fit better. The breaking news however is he is not a Red Sox fan. Yes that's right, he is a member of the Evil Empire living in enemy territory. Thick Mass. accent, he is the perfect spy.
Good for him. Go Rockies.
