Comcast griping

Ok, so no ESPNU on Comcast. I understand it perfectly, they don't really care about their customers and aren't a service oriented company. Fine, I get it. They just want my money, to hell with quality.

I can understand that business strategy. But, do they have to be incompetent too? Who runs this company? Who is in charge? When they actually choose to televise something, can they at least deliver?

Now they have fouled up Celtics coverage. Celts in overtime against the Raptors and with 7. 4 seconds left the feed goes off. TJ Ford his a 3 to tie it at 95-95. Ray Allen then hits a 3 to win it. Guess got ot see the highlight on ESPN.

Comcast Sports New England off to a bad start. They fouled up a preseason game earlier in the year and blacked it out in Connecticut. Then, they ruined the Celtics pregame with some stupid hokey red behind the desk look. Where was Gary Tanguay today?

Oh, and get this, Comcast Cable in Hartford doesn't get Comcast Sports New England in High Def. But, Cox in Manchester gets Comcast Sports in High Definition. So, if I want to watch Comcast High Definition I have to get Direct TV.

I wonder if Comcast realizes they are admitting thier product is inferior to satellite. Oh, I am also paying $200 a month for cable, internet and phone.

Want an awful company.

Bad product, bad service, bad delivery, incompetent from tech's to the CEO and expensive. Anything else?

There is no CSN HD in Cambridge either. And no plans to broadcast away games in high-def anyway, so for those of us with season tix, we are basically left out to dry. Just amazing.

Bad company.

I read somewhere CT will now prevent exclusivity for cable providers in apartment buildings. I can only get comcast in my building (of course, dishes are not allowed either). If we can get some actual competition, perhaps these companies will provide a better product and/or value. I pay $100 for basic cable and internet, if I had to set a value for it I'd say it's more like $40-50 (for a system that I can't watch 4 UConn FB games on this year), but when you have a monopoly you can charge whatever you like.

That is correct about exclusivity. AT&T universe will start offering cable on their fiber optic phone lines in the coming year. AT&T didn't have to get a cable provider license from the DPUC.

The market hasn't opened up liked they hoped with de-regulation, but hopefully with new avenues and ways to deliver the product prices will come down. It's the worst of both worlds with Comcast -- an unregulated monopoly.

A dish is not viable for everyone so I don't see it as a major competitor yet. At least satellite is growing. I am all for a lazziez faire business attitude with government, but with cable companies using public roads and land and having no viable competitors, it begs for increased regulation, or at least closer monitoring.
