Saturday wrap

It's a day early, smack in the middle of college football. Good win by Pitt over Iowa, and very good win by NC State over ECU.

Also, why am I drawn to Notre Dame-Michigan St with Florida-Tennessee playing?

Anyhow, here is the Saturday's teleconference wrap after a 31-28 victory over Baylor:

No injuries.

Also, looking at the film the Huskies gave up 5 big plays --15 yard or more run and 20 yard or more pass. That is too much for Randy Edsall's liking. There were problems in the coverage area, of course most of it was in the inside where Kendall Wright went crazy. Edsall wasn't going to call anyone out, but Greg Lloyd had a tough game in coverage as did Lawrence Wilson.

"We didn't play well inside. Baylor has some tremendous athletes and you will see as seaosn goes on they are going to beat peope," Edsall said. "But, We got to make sure take care of our assignments and execute."

On Tyler Lorenzen's two interceptions Edsall didn't share the conversations they had after the game.

"I don't want to get in specifics. Sometimes, you make a bad read or put the ball in a wrong position," Edsall said. "You have 2 throws that you wouldn't expect him to make in those siutations."

The offense scored 31 points and has moved the ball consistently all year. Take away the turnovers, and the late hit, and UConn could have been plus 17 in points. The disturbing part, at least for me is the turnovers in the red zone. Elimate those and the Huskies would have had perhaps four blowout wins this year.

Now, onto the controversy. Edsall referred questions to the Big East and the Big 12. He did say that Butler's penatly was a late hit, and not leading with your helmet. That's a bad call in my opinion after seeing the replay. That could have cost UConn the game.

Also, the safety, they ruled forward progress. Bad call there too I thought.

Lastly, Donald Brown with another 30 plus carries. Edsall wants to rotate Dixon and Todman in more.

"We got to get some of thos guys in there. We got to get some in there more to give him a blow," Edsall said.

Brown wasn't tired.
