No QB controversy here

Saturday update. Got home from the Ville 45 minutes a go and back to work. It's a good thing I love football and sports...

The news of the day.

Right off the bat, there is no QB controversy for the Huskies. Zach Frazer is going to be the No. 1 QB while Cody Endres (who was the backup through the first four games) will be the No. 2. No shot at Casey Turner dressing, John McEntee (had to look him up on the roster) is the No.3. McEntee is a walk-on from Fulleton,Calif.

"Zach is the quarterback, Cody is no. 2 and Johnny McEntee is No. 3,"UConn coach Randy Edsall said.

"Zach went in and played well and I am comfortable with it. Those are the two guys we go with. Zach would go in and do a good job. I would be comfortable with him and those are the guys we have."

Edsall liked what he saw from Frazer: "The more he played, maybe that (late) hit did get him fired up. He made some good reads and some passes. I thought he delivered the ball where he should. He put the ball on the money and looked confident out there."

Edsall said QB Tyler Lorenzen and TE Steve Brouse are still set for surgery Sunday. Lorenzen is going to stay with the team, travel, and help out with the QBs. Tough break for Lorenzen. He is a good guy and he is 14-4 in his career in games played. The Huskies have done nothing but win since he came here.

More notes:

* The injuries are the same, nothing new happened on the plane home. DTs Rob Lunn and Kendall Reyes hurt their ankles but should be ok. Alex Polito is expected to return. Darius Butler is fine after hurting his back on that run in the fourth quarter. He is fine. Edsall won't know until Monday at the earliest if Brouse and Lorenzen can even return this season.

*With TE Brouse out, Yianni Apostolakos is the No. 2 behind Martin Bedard. Freshman John Delahunt, who enrolled last spring, will move up to No. 3 on the depth chart. He is going to get the redshirt taken off. Huskies need 3 tight ends

*The defense gave up 508 yards and Edsall felt it was just a matter of technique and fundamentals.

Cheers. What a great day in college football already. Florida goes down, and then North Carolina wins in the final seconds over Miami. UConn-UNC should be on the deuce on Saturday night. 4-1 vs. 5-0.
