Late night wrap

Going to figure out my poll after this Fresno-Wisconsin game (it was a fumble by Fresno, awful replay call)

Anyhow, USC will be No. 1 for me. Happy everyone.

Now back to UConn:

It was the most impressive performance they have had since I can remember. Maybe even better than the Motor City Bowl game.

UConn just totally dominated Virginia
. They didn't take over and have a short field. This wasn't Virginia getting blown out making mistakes. On the contrary, UConn's offense had to sustain the entire first half. 70, 77,86 and 75 yard drives are impressive.

They were methodical, and that is something to get excited about. 382 yards rushing. Who needs passing if you can do that? I like the way Tyler Lorenzen played, extremely efficient. It could have been 14-for-15 passing, there was one drop.

His running ability and the short and intermediate passing game, it was a perfect blueprint. You know what? He may not have been BS'ing when he said he had a hard time gripping the ball in a monsoon at Temple last week. Good game by Lorenzen, a very good game. Not gaudy numbers, but that's what Brown is for.

He was in control of the team.

The defense is a little soft in coverage (a lot of underneath) but the running game of UVa was stifled. 30 yards rushing for UVa. Defense was powerful. 2.2 per carry and 219 yards of total offense given up. The late touchdown was garbage time.

I like where this offense is going. More running oriented. They are not going to be able to throw the ball 50 times. Kashif Moore caught a couple of passes, but largely the WRs weren't relied on in the passing game. There were shots at the tight end, running back and fullback. It was a good plan.

The WRs were marginalized. This offense is going to be run oriented, and it looks like they are going to be pretty good at it.

Jordan Todman is an absolute playmaker. They have to find a way to get Todman, when healthy Andre Dixon and of course Donald Brown touches. Add those three with a confident and efficient Lorenzen, and that's a good offense.

The line was tremendous, especially the left side with Will Beatty at tackle and Moe Petrus at guard.

This is a game you can wrap your head around. Huskies were dominating.
