Game story is up on the JI website, which is a bit unusual because until we started writing for the web (and it's only me for now) you don't hear a word from us until Monday night. But, technology is a great thing (work harder for less, same old story).
Anyhow, I am not sure what to think. UConn is 3-0, but after a game like it had against Temple I have many more questions than I had three weeks ago.
1. Can the offensive line consistently run block/pass block? It's too inconsistent and nearly cost the team the game not getting a pair of fourth down plays.
2. Where does Andre Dixon fit it? Looked good out there, and if you saw him in the spring and summer it's not a surprise. Brown was requested, but I didn't see him in the interview room. I'll give him a pass. Brown just looks frustrated out there. He needs to relax, he has talent. Randy Edsall said that Donald is still his starter, but he has to pay the hot hand.
3. Defensive line? The tackles got destroyed, especially the backups Polito and Dillon. Way too easy up the middle.
Now, after three games, I have no idea if they are any good. A performance like this against Temple really shakes the foundation.
I think Lorenzen is the goods, and I like the backs despite Brown's funk, and the receivers are productive. But the O-Line worries me, a lot. Especially that right side.
We will all find out soon enough.
If UConn can knock off Pitt, this game disappears.
It doesn't feel like 3-0.
