Slice of Americana

Went to the Durham Bulls game tonight. I am not sure you can find another place in the United States that epitomizes what baseball is. From someone who goes to New Britain Rock Cats games often, the Bulls' stadium is an American treasure. Beautiful brick park, packed house, cheap beer, perfect field. They have the Blue Monster out on left field that is 40 feet high. It's long way to center.

But, the best part is when there is a home run. The bull on top of the 40 foot high Blue Monster has his eyes light up in red and smoke come out of his nose. If you hit the bull, the batter wins a steak. If he hits the grass he gets a salad.

Fireworks concluded the night.

All for $7.

You can't get any more American than that.

Update 12:37 AM: Watched most of the 2nd half of the Cuse game in between Baker's perfect game bid. Brutal second half. The uniforms on the orange were hideous.
