Al Golden, Temple coach was devastated. Parents of players were calling teammates saying it was in. Golden is crushed.
UConn's defensive backs thought it could either way. Edsall isn't sure. Lucky, he said. He will take it.
More later on the play.
Tom McCabe, the referee from the MAC, had no comment on the play or an explanation. Back judge made the call. The no comment was told to Neil Ostrout and Chip Malafronte, representing the entire UConn media. UConn officials are going to try and get an explanation from the Big East.
If that was ruled a TD on the field, I am not sure it would have been overturned in complete.
Relief in the locker room for the Huskies. Dan Davis said he can't enjoy the win "We got lucky."
Be back later...
Update from Big East: MAC crew worked the game. In the booth was a Big East official, Jack Kramer.
Anyhow, from Associate Commissioner Nick Caprarelli on the call speaking for Kramer:
“He did not feel there was enough video evidence to over turn the call on the field. Replay officials around the country are told, they are charged, to overturn obvious mistakes. Their charge is to not to make officiating decisions. They (only) overturn obvious mistakes.”
If they got the ESPN feed for replays, there was yellow coated security guy who blocked the view. Home field advantage I guess.
