The Big Beast Conference

Wow. Get back from the Rent and USF knocks off Auburn. I am not surprised, that team is good and I think they will knock off one, and maybe 2 of Rutgers, Ville and West Virginia.

What the heck was Tubberville doing late in the game? 55 seconds, two timeouts, decent field position and a kicker who is as strong as a moose. Talk about deer in the headlights. Totally unprepared.

So, let's take a quick look at non-conference outings. Cincy destroys Oregon State and USF beats a top 15 program on the road in SEC country. That's impressive.

Big East is what, 14-2 so far?

Most of us were talking about the Bg East in the press box tonight. UConn is better than last year, in my opinion much better, and I am not sure the schedule is going to allow them to improve much. After the Akron game, they are going to play four ranked teams (USF will break into the top 20 I imagine) in their final six games, and also have to visit Cincinnati. That isn't easy. One of te tougher schedules in the country.

Every team in the conference with the exception of Syracuse is better than last year. So the question is how close UConn is to the top of the Big East? I don't know. If a bowl game awaits, an upset or two has to happen. If the Huskies go chalk the rest of the way (win only games favored), they probably end up 5-7.

Also, thumbs down on the ACC. Va Tech got destroyed and Miami allows 51 points. If they were still in the Big East the critics would lambast the conference for being weak and a product of playing each other. Best team in the ACC is Boston College.
