I am going out on a limb and saying Randy Edsall picked the right quarterback. Lorenzen was nearly flawless and looked at home. He went with the ball to the right receiver almost every time and spread it around. 8 catches for Jeffers and 7 for Larry Taylor. D.J. Hernandez and Brad Kanuch the deep threats.
Offensive line was shaky and didn't run block well until late, when Duke wore down. Huskies won the game on the arm and game management of Lorenzen, and the play of the defensive line.
The numbers are staggering. 487-169. It is even more stark than that. After Duke's 80 yard opening drive they had less than 100 yards total offense.
Cody Brown was a force and nearly had 4 or 5 sacks instead of 2. Julius Williams put a hellacious hit on Thaddeus Lewis and Lindsay Witten gave the Blue Devils fits.
Lawrence Wilson was pretty good considering it was hist first game action at weak side linebacker.
Some observations:
*Lorenzen more impressive than I expected. He was confident, poised. And, when things went bad he didn't panic or press. That is a very good sign.
*Defensive line was tremendous. 15 yards rushing net, 76 if it was the NFL, and dominated the second half on the road. The ends were tremendous.
*Offensive line was shaky, and Lawrence Green went down with an injury. Hicks was ok. Lorenzen was hit too much.
*Special teams was shaky. Desi Cullen impressive on kickoffs, but a 94 yard touchdown return is a bad sign. Also, Tony Ciaravino is an adventure on field goals. He isn't getting the ball elevated. 3-for-4 today under 40 yards. Also had an xtra point blocked. They got to fix this.

Thanks for the breakdown John. I am looking forward to the home opener next week. Hopefully Lorenzen is the real deal and the Huskies can make some progress in the Big East this year.
