If you saw my first post on this blog it summed up why I don't like sports gambling, but if you need any more reason on why not to bet take the bengals-Ravens.
At the JI we pick against the spread every week and I needed to split the last two games to clinch first place and best record in week 1. It's a big deal (o not really, but it is to about 12 of us in JI land).
So naturally I have the Ravens +3. Ravens make six turnovers, and are still in it down 27-20 late. Not looking good. Cincy's Rudi Johnson fumbles at the 25 and the Ravens take over. So I am looking good.
Then the Ravens drives down and Boller throws a TD to tie . YES!!!!
Even with a push I win.
But wait. Pass interference, and the Ravens are moved back. It goes to fourth down and a pass is incomplete.
NO! I lose.
But wait!
Defensive holding first down and goal at the 5.
Yes! I am looking good. Boller can't mes it up twice. Can he?
Then, third down from the 3, ball tipped in the endzone and Cincy intercepts.
Game over I lose.
I had no joy driving back from work. Worst, if I didn't have something riding on the game I would have loved the game.
Life sucks.
Luckily I DVR'ed the season finale of Greek.
UPDATE (1:35 A.M): Need any more proof?
I got Niners giving -3. Cardinals lead 17-13. Fourth down run by Alex Smith gives me hope. Pass to Arnaz Batte for a sure TD is fumbled at the 1 yard line into the endzone with 26 seconds left. Cards got a shot to win the game by falling at it but miss. 49ers recover and ball placed at one. Battle scores TD on a high school split end running play.
I hold my breath on the extra point. 20-17 --- PUSH.
I am the hot hand.
Life is beautiful!
