More nonsense

I am fired up. Why? I have seen enough of the anti-Big East talk. It's one thing to not think that Cincinnati is deserving of a BCS berth if they go undefeated, but watching Shaun King on ESPN today you would think they have as easy a road as Boise St.

It's not even close. Is it too much to ask these people to pay attention?

I will paraphrase, but King essentially said Cincy has to run the table impressively because they don't face any top 25 teams. The farce is that Pittsburgh and WVU should be in the Top 25 (over Ole Miss, that's for sure).

Tell me again how BYU is ranked ahead of USF? Or, how Ole Miss is still Top 25, or how Utah is in the top 25?

The thought that Cincinnati was going to go through its schedule undefeated is a reach anyway. That team isn't getting through the Big East undefeated, the conference is too good. With no Pike, the point is moot. They will get picked off.

Cincinnati is not on par with Texas, Florida or Alabama, but after that they are as good a team in the country as anyone. I would love to see Cincy against Virginia Tech.

Cincinnati went on the road to win a game against Oregon St. On the road. The school also plays West Virginia (at home) and Pittsburgh on the road this season. It's not an easy schedule. For that, take a look at the darlings Boise St who should have their BCS bid clipped by TCU if we wanted to be fair.

I take issue with the fact that West Virginia and Pitt aren't ranked when there are clearly teams in the bottom half of the top 25 that have no reason to be there. You want to penalize Pitt for being Pitt and gifting a game on the road at NC State? Fine. West Virginia had Auburn blown out if it could hang onto the ball.

Heck, UConn pounded Cincinnati 40-16 last year. You think that's a gimme for the Bearcats?

The lack of knowledge and insight by national types about the Big East has to end. They have 1,000 people on the air over there, can they get someone who watches football outside of the SEC and Big 10 please?

The Southern bias in college football nationally is nauseating. Like somehow great tailgating = great football.

I am not trying to defend the Big East here and am far from a homer. The conference is good, but it doesn't have a consistent elite team, that's a problem. That's a fundamental long term weakness of the league and it's why they should try and expand the league. For this season however, they have an elite team and it's located in Southern Ohio. Next year? Who knows.

Agendas are what is in play here. There is an underbelly of college football that wants the Big East out of the pie. Money is the reason. The Big East kind of bullied itself into the BCS with Miami and when it lost Miami and Va Tech, people figured that its BCS status would end. Unfortunately, Pat White saved the day and Louisville had a great team for two years, so that kept the Big East alive.

This was the year the Big East was supposed to collapse, but, Cincinnati has turned out to be a Top 10 team. Now the detractors have a problem because the Big East is showing staying power when the raid was designed to destroy it.

Big East is better than all the other non-BCS league from top to bottom.

The league has structural issues and it needs to go to 9 teams, and I would argue more and boot the basketball schools.

Anyhow, I have a good feeling on UConn tomorrow. Huskies are due to put everything together and Louisville comes in at the right time.

Thank You!! I wish the other media members except DC would wake up and give credit when it's due. The Big East is rugged and they beat up on each other and when Bowl Season starts, we win a majority of our matchups. Someday they will take notice of our conference! Go Huskies!!

I saw Shaun King's comments and they were very, very odd. Because last night, the announcers in the booth were all singing Cincy's praises, especially Craig James. And Lou Holtz & Mark May gave proper credit at halftime.

Even odder was after King's comment, the SportsCenter anchor went through Cincy's schedule and pointed out that WVU, Pitt and UConn (he said they have a great defnese) could also give Cincy a game.

I agree with your main point though about the Big East. Although if Pitt wins tonight and WVU beats Marshall, they could both end up in the Top 25.
