Yankee Bowl imminent

Presser tomorrow at Yankee Stadium to announce a college football bowl game. No word on the exact details, but since the Big East isn't going to send out a press conference alert if they aren't in the game it's the Big East plus. It's Big East No. 4 vs Big 12 7 per SI

Regardless of the conference (from all other reports looks like Big 12), this is a home run for the Big East (awful metaphor).

NYC can be a Rutgers, Syracuse or UConn crowd, and that's very important for the conference. Pitt too can have a big crowd. Every bowl game the BE is in now is like a road game.

NYC is beautiful around Xmas and New Year's. Even the cold is fine. The big problem for me would be the sticker shock for the visiting team. I have been in the south and midwest and hotel and food prices will scare people like you wouldn't believe. My room in Dallas at a full service Mariott was $89. You can't get a Red Roof Inn in the tri-state area for that.

Hotels will be $200 a night, likely more.  The price of a hotel during Big East tournaments at MSG are legendary. That's Manhattan, but that is where people will want to stay if they come up here. Logistical issues and price are a problem. We'll see on this. Should be a good bowl for the Big East teams.

Curious what the affiliation and pick the bowl gets as well as a date and pecking order.

Yes, the hotels can be expensive, but I've stayed in 3-4 star midtown manhattan hotels for $100-$150/night. Just have to know which websites to go to. All in all, good news. This bowl shouldn't have to rely on Big 12 sending any more than 10,000 fans. The Big East fans who can, need to go, or at least buy tix and donate them if their budget allows.

I give the game 8 thumbs down. It won't last three years. There's a reason there have been 2 or 3 previous NYC bowls and why they all failed.

I'm sorry but the new Big East commish gets an F for the new bowls. Both the Sun & the Gator would have wanted to the Big East if we gave them Notre Dame twice in 4 years. GIVE IT TO THEM!! If Notre Dame has 9 wins, there in the BCS guaranteed. Since the Big East/Notre Dame agreement started, guess how many times ND went to the Gator Bowl? TWICE...in 12 years.

So instead of a BCS/Gator/Sun/Charlotte lineup...or even BCS/Sun/Champs Sports/Charlotte....we have BCS/Champs/Charlotte/Yankee. I would argue the Mountain West (Vegas & San Diego) have better bowl tie-ins than we do. And compared to the other BCS conferences, it's not even close.

And ND can still take the Big East's spot....meaning a 3rd place, 9 win team could end up playing Iowa State in freezing tempatures. No thank you.

Sorry for the rant but this really, really has me ticked off and just feeds the notion that the Big East isn't a big-time football conference. Creating lame bowl games isn't helping.

Sean my man, it is a good game. No. 1, the payout is $2 million and this is just its initial game. In 4 years this game if it takes off will get a major Big 12 team, I would say maybe top 5. This is a trial run and I would expect 3 years from now to improve the tie in.

This is an alumni thing. Everyone works in NYC. You can't be a college and not have a significant alumni in NYC.

The Yankees aren't in the business of embarrassing themselves and this is different than the 1970s and early 1980s. NYC has undergone a resurgence from the early 1990s. The city doesn't have that urban stigma it did 25 years ago. It's a great place to be, especially around Christmas and New Years.

I think the Sun made a mistake, but the reason the Sun choose the ACC was choice more than team. The Big East needs to expand to improve strength and variety to bowl partners.

I like this game much more than other people. Toronto worked, and that was against a MAC school out of the country in even colder weather. The dynamics are different in the Northeast. Rutgers and UConn are now players in college football, and I think there is a commitment for college football in the Northeast now. That's a big difference than 30 years ago.

The time is ripe for a NYC Bowl.

John,

I just don't think a cold weather bowl game is going to work. I understand NYC holds some appeal but I'd much rather be heading south come late December. There had to be other opportunities, like the Music City Bowl, that the Big East could have stepped into instead of trying to create something. Is Yankee Stadium going to be full for a Louisville/Kansas State blockbuster??

But I also agree the Sun Bowl made a horrible, horrible decision.

As a Uconn Alum and parent of a player this game is very intriguing. We made the trip to Toronto last year and had a blast(even in the cold) NYC is an even better city to be in. While I'm a Red Sox fan, the idea of playing in Yankee Stadium also has some cache. I also know that this bowl is interesting to the players as well. But I also agree that at least at first they need to get UCONN/Rutgers/Syracuse in thier first games if possible.

A little off topic, Guys... I have a question. Last week I played around this site:
Rivalspot.com - Play Ps3 tournaments for cash
They say you can play online FIFA Soccer game tournaments on any console for cash... had anyone tried that before? Looks like a cool idea...
Are there any other sites where you can play sports games for real moneys? I Googled and found only Bringit.com and Worldgaming.com but it looks these guys don't specialize in sport gamez. Any suggestions?

Good day, sun shines!
There have been times of hardship when I didn't know about opportunities of getting high yields on investments. I was a dump and downright pessimistic person.
I have never imagined that there weren't any need in big initial investment.
Now, I feel good, I started to get real money.
It's all about how to choose a proper partner who utilizes your money in a right way - that is incorporate it in real business, and shares the profit with me.

You can ask, if there are such firms? I have to tell the truth, YES, there are. Please get to know about one of them:
