Game Day URI

Weather: 55 degrees with a New England chill. Perfect football weather. This is classic New England early fall weather.

There is beefed up security here at the rent.  Even media got patted down coming into the game. I am sure there is going to be a long delay coming into the building. Why? On recommendation of law enforcement. It was a little much, but wasn't as bad as some places. Not a fan of the pat down.

It's hard to gauge here against Rhode Island. In one sense, UConn doesn't want to act like they are going to beat Rhode Island easily. The problem is when you project fake concern it comes across as just that -- fake. UConn takes Rhode Island seriously, dont' get me wrong, but the most important thing today is to stay healthy and keep positive momentum going.

I would expect a quick, simple, and powerful game plan that is heavy on the run and being physical.

The most interesting games to me are in the Big East where USF-FSU, Rutgers-Maryland and Pittsburgh-NC State. I don't think USF has a chance without Matt Grothe, but Pittsburgh should be able to knock off NC State if they are truly a top 25 team. If Rutgers loses to Maryland I don't want to hear from a Rutgers fan until 2010. Maryland somehow has become a terrible team. I don't know what happened to the program. Ralph Freigden was pretty hot there for a couple of years. You always strike while the iron is hot.

Big East rankings for Week 4.

1. Cincinnait
2.Pittsburgh
3. Wes Virginia
4. UConn
5. USF (no Grothe penalty)
6. Syracuse
7. Rutgers
8. Louisville

We'll see how it plays out. Back more with later.
