Postgame URI

Randy Edsall was encouraged by the performance. Huskies passed for 289 yards and two touchdowns with no  interceptions. Mike Smith had an excellent game with 82 yards on eight catches. He had good chemistry with Endres.

There were 7 fumbles, but Edsall attributed it to trying to do too much with the ball. That would include the two muffs by Jasper Howard and the two dropped punt snaps by Desi Cullen.

As far as a QB controversy, Edsall would have nothing to do with it. Zach Frazer isn't even cleared medically yet, so there is no controversy right now. I don't know Zach availability for practice this week, will ask tomorrow during conference call. Endres has played well enough and managed the offense well enough to make a compelling case to remain the starter in my book. Now, Frazer didn't have the benefit of playing against Rhode Island, and winning the job in the spring and summer should count for something. Still, this is a good problem at QB for the Huskies.

Endres does hold onto the ball a little too long and Edsall mentioned he wants him to let it fly and show a little more confidence. This was a big confidence booster for the offense. This was the 122 game of Edsall's career and the 1000th in UConn history. Edsall improves to 61-61 in his career.

Be back later.
