Calm before the storm

Taking care of some advance stuff for the big game (is any game ever small?) . The JIs preview section is out today, stories aren't up online, but if you are in JI area it's well worth the purchase on cover design and photos alone.

A thanks to Tyler Lorenzen for co-operating with the photo shoot. We have a story about him interning at Merrill Lynch this summer and he was gracious enough to get in a suit for the shoot. Of course, he then promptly put on his pads and full uniform and what we got is a split screen shot of Lorenzen. (Think NBA finals split screen).

It's a great cover. If I can get something electronic I will post it. Most newspapers in the country aren't doing special sections anymore and I am not sure how long we are going to be able to do it too. I was happy to put up with the hassle and extra work. Newspapers are indeed dying (the delivery device, not the actual role or need of the product we create), but the way it looks you can't really recreate online with linking to text. It's a shame these things have gone the way of the type writer. The packaging enhances the information.

Lastly, a big happy 5-0 to UConn coach Randy Edsall. He turns 50 today.

Edit: Here is the JIs cover.
