Sunday teleconference

Big news was that Greg Robinson was fired at Syracuse. Not news that he is fired, but the Post Standard's Donnie Webb is reporting that Edsall is "very interested" in the job and a leading candidate.

Edsall did nothing to dispel that during Sunday's conference call wrapping up the 39-14 thumping.

"I don’t take about personal issues and never will. I will coach this football team and get them ready for South Florida and that’s it," Edsall said.

“I don’t talk about personnel issues. I just want to focus on making us the best as we can. I am focused on South Florida.”

That's not even a denial

Folks, if Edsall was truly not interested, then why not come out and say it? I would say an offer and Edsall is gone. I will tell you this, it better be quick and if you entertain the thought, you can't come back to UConn.

UConn AD Jeff Hathaway should put pressure on. It's fish or cut bait. One thing working against Edsall is the buyout is prohibitive. Edsall may want to go to Syracuse, but not sure he is going to pick up the $1 million buyout to do it. Don't know if Syracuse can do it. It goes down after January. Not sure all the parties would wait that long anyhow.

This can't be allowed to fester and hang over the program. There is a bye week after South Florida. It should be rectified by then. Allowing this to hang through December will kill recruiting.

That's the profession.

Other notes:

*Twyon Martin and Kendall Reyes have eclipsed AlexPolito and Rob Lunn as starters. It's a 4man rotation, but Edsall really likes Reyes and Polito.

* The Todman reverse that went for a 50 yard TD has went for a TD whenever it has been run in practice.

* No new injuries.

Be back later, got to pay the bills.
