Late night at The Rent -- at home

Will blog later, just some quick thoughts before I get home.

As far as injuries, Robbie Vaughn and Trevardo Williams had head injuries.

As far as the game, Dave Teggart credited Derek Chard and Desi Cullen for a perfect snap.

“Derek Chard (snapper) and (holder) Desi Cullen came through big-time,” Teggart said. “It was a perfect snap (holder) Desi Cullen didn’t have to spring it,” Teggart said. “The laces were up, Desi put it down, it was a perfect situation. I am glad I hit it through.”

Edsall said that Teggart "is as good as anyone in the country" when his head is on straight.

Randy Edsall also thought Zach Frazer was terrific in the conditions. I concur, and while he is not always pretty and still has a bad pass or two, he has a knack for late game heroics. How many times has he led the Huskies to rally in the fourth. He has a little Eli Manning in him.

Why?

"He stays steady and even-keel. Zach has a lot of confidence in himself," Edsall said. "That's how quarterbacks are measured."

Frazer's thought?

“I like the pressure,” Frazer said. “I like having the game on the line and the ball in my hands. I feel more comfortable.”

Marcus Easley continues to show why he will be a pro. 8 catches 122 yards and it should have been more but he dropped two balls.

So, the topic of the hour. Where will the Huskies go? Edsall said he didn't have a public preference because he had no control. This is the first year I officially have no idea, because no one around UConn has a firm grasp.

Here's the skinny that I am piecing together from all sources, on and off the record and speculation. The Post-Gazette said Pitt may not want Charlotte because they can't sell 12,500 tickets. If that's the case, Rutgers goes to Charlotte and UConn ends up in St. Pete. I have a hard time believing UConn goes back to Toronto or in a switch with Motor City (now Little Ceasers) because St. Pete doesn't want USF again. That's conventional wisdom.

But, Dec. 19 St. Pete is a sticking point for the University. It is smack in the middle of finals. This has been going on for some time, and Edsall did say last year St. Pete wasn't an option, and I can't tell you that anything is changed. Edsall said he didn't have a bowl preference because "I can't control where we go."

Not exactly a ringing endorsement of the lineup.  The Car Care meets at noon Sunday. Don't expect anything before then because they have to think long and hard about Pitt-Rutgers. Depending on what happens there, that will decide UConn's fate. It's still fluid and there are a lot of scenarios that have to be worked out.

Rutgers is a poor team to put in the Car Care bowl, and how could Charlotte pass up on a Top 25 team? That's why this thing isn't done yet. How often will the Car Care get a caliber if team as Pittsburgh?

Side note: There really is not a pecking order of the 4-5-6 in bowl games. International, Papajohns and St. Pete don't get to pick before each other. These bowls are "worked out" in the Big East. It's not like most other bowls where International gets No. 4. That's not how it works with these bottom bowls in the Big East.

Good night.
