I will settle for more later, but this was a huge win for the Huskies and righted the ship. I can't tell you the difference in demeanor.

They rode Andre Dixon, who ran 07 style for 149 yards on 31 carries and a career-high 3 touchdowns. Him and Jordan Todman have a pretty good chemistry going.

"A fresh Jordan is better than a tired me," Dixon said. "A fresh me is better than a tired Jordan."

The Huskies did what they do best -- looked Baylor in the eyes and smacked them in the mouth. It was a spirited performance. Robert Griffin is a terrific quarterback, but he wanted no part of UConn after. They pounded him and hit hard. Considering Lutrus was out again, it was as fine a defensive performance as I have seen in my four years covering the team.

The Huskies didn't have Lutrus or Kijuan Dabney. They played nickel the entire game and Blidi Wreh Wilson was good as was Jerome Junior. Only 2 big plays all game accounted for 100 yards. Without those two,Baylor had 166 yards on maybe 46 plays. That's defense.

Huskies also played Mike Lang and Nick Williams at wide receiver. The young players are starting to pay off.

I will post more when I get back to the hotel, but the CT Army National Guard 118th medical battalion out of Newington was here. They were at Fort Hood and will be shipped off to Iraq in a few weeks. They came down to shake hands the Huskies and the players lined up and shook hands with each of them.

They then went to the locker room and celebrated for the Huskies. Andre Dixon was the last to leave. He took pictures on the field.I have some photos on my IPhone. It was touching and classy of Edsall to do that. He didn't even know they were coming to the game.

All in all a great day. I'll post some photos when I get back.

Some notes: Andre Dixon was terrific. His 31 carries and 149 were the second highest of his career. Endres was good because he managed the game and made no mistakes. He throws a nice deep ball. He just has to get the ball out faster, and become more accurate on the short passes. He looked comfortable today, and he can play the position at this level.

Defense was incredible. Don't mind about the score. It got tight, but the defense wasn't taking any risks.

I didn't have a good feeling when I got here, I think the team has a chance as long as they don't self destruct at QB and receiver.
