Game 4 on tap

Celts by 5 tonight, calling it now.

There will be some bigger news coming next week for UConn football. With the semester over we will get an update on the roster. Marcus Campbell will be back we'll see if Brandon Dillon is coming back too. Obviously, Danny Russell is out of here and I imagine there may be more roster shuffling.

Randy Edsall will speak Monday afternoon. I am going to be out of town, but news travels quickly.

Now to more important matters

Why are the Celts struggling on the road?

Simply, the point guard play of Rondo has been wildly inconsistent. He isn't a scorer, but he has regressed to his play early in the season. He is invisible and is not moving the ball and organizing the offense. The poor point guard play has ground the Celts offense to a stop. Why is Ray Allen struggling? He isn't getting the ball in good spots. Celts won't win the East if his play doesn't improve. Casell is fools gold at this point in his career. He is exactly what the team needs and he plays the way he needs to play. The bad part is he physically can't do the things he used to. He legs aren't there, and he can't play the way he did earlier in his career. Sam hasn't figured out yet that he can't play the way he used to.

But, when he plays well Celts start to roll.

Doc's rotations are shaky. I don't know why Eddie House is getting buried, but that guy is a killer when he is on. NBA playoffs comes down to PG play and defense on the road. Celts are lacking in that department.

Game 4 begs for Eddie House's shooting.

It annoys me to no end that Waly Szerbiak and Delonte West are hitting shots. Especially Wally. Take a look at photos. He is a ringer for Derick Zoolander.

Other NBA thoughts:

Chris Paul is best player in the NBA: Don't think I would ever say that, but I would take Chris Paul over any non-center in the NBA with the exception of Kobe. I think Paul is more valuable than LeBron. Paul reminds me of Allen Iverson with court awareness and a willingness to pass the ball. A more explosive Isiah Thomas and a stronger Tiny Archibald.

With the way the NBA rules are going he is nearly unstoppable. Danny Ainge tried to trade Paul Pierce for a lottery pick with the intention of taking Paul. As Ainge showed this year, he knows what he's doing.

Recent movie recommendations:

Thumbs up:

JUNO -- loved this movie. Funny and touching and Ellen page is terrific. On the downside, why has Jason Bateman's career come down to playing creepy men?

The last two times I saw Jason Bateman he was a stalker in a wheelchair (who wasn't really in wheelchair but did it to get the girl) and in JUNO he tries to cozy up with a 16 year old. It's been a long fall for the Teenwolf 2 star...ok, maybe not.

GOLDEN COMPASS -- I like these children fantasy movie genres. I don't know why, maybe because I read them all as a kid. This one was pretty good. Nice story and love Nicole Kidman. It's a better plot than Harry Potter, and much more mysterious movie than the Chronicles of Narnia (haven't seen Prince Caspian). I liked this one better than Eragorn also. Good movie, though I doubt with the saturation of these types of flicks this one will get noticed.

NO COUNTRY FOR OLD MEN: Not Oscar worthy, though it is a good movie. Certainly better than the cliche filled Crash (Brokeback Mountain was far superior). I still don't get this movie, but a part of me couldn't stop watching it.

MICHAEL CLAYTON: Exciting movie, though it's hard to follow. Not sure if I like Clooney's character. Loved the final scene -- An indignant Clooney is upset he was targeted for death. "I am the one you buy off!" Touching.

Thumbs down

BEOWOLF -- CGI enhanced and boring. I don't get BEOWOLF. It was boring when I read it in college. It was boring as a foreign film adaption a couple of years ago, and it was boring in this CGI creation. Beowolf is a lot like Freddy Prince Jr. No matter how many times they package it and tell me it is great and try to sell it to me, it still sucks.

GONE BABY GONE: We have a rule in the Silver house. If any children get murdered the movie goes off. What kind of subject is this? I loved Mystic River. I hated this movie. And any time an Affleck is on the screen I cringe. Isn't the point of a movie to entertain your audience. I haven't been this turned off since 8MM.

I can't bring myself to watch Antonement or There will be Blood. Just too heavy. I have Cloverfield coming in the mail. Can't wait. Alien vs. Predator is also on tap soon...

John:

When you say "bigger news" coming out of UConn's presser on Monday do you mean bigger than your feelings on the Celtics or bigger than just your run of the mill pc's?

Outside of the roster moves we are aware of do you expect any earth shattering news?

How about less than earth shattering news like the Nollis Dewarr comeback rumors floating around?
