Kickoff: Crowd is pretty rowdy. Over 40,000 people here. It's about 4-1 USC fans over UConn fans. The weather is cold but not unbearable. Legion Field is an old stadium, but it has a nice charm.

Huskies win toss, will defer to second half. Kickoff imminent.

Update 1:09 p.m: Huskies blitzed twice on the first 3 plays! 1 yard, 3 and out for USC.  Good start for Huskies.

Update 1:11 p.m.: Huskies go 3 and out. Didn't like the plays, gained 1 yard gain. Huskies should try and see if they can run the ball. Didn't hand off to Dixon at all.

Update 1:27 p.m.: Kashif Moore with a spectacular 37 yard TD catch. Frazer laid it out in front and Moore had a 1-handed grab in full stride. Good throw, but Moore's catch was spectacular. He put his right hand out and just let the ball fall in and in full stride ran for a TD. Shocking play, Huskies up 7-0.

Update 1:32 p.m.:  Huskies defense has been terrific, especially D-line. There is a 4th and 1 from the USC 34 and it looks like Spurrier will go for it. That's a gamble this year...

Don't think they made it on the sneak. Huskies hold on 4th down.

Update 1:37 p.m.: Frazer missed a wide open Ryan Griffin on a TD pass.He overthrew him, and he just isn't comfortable on the run. Teggart with a 33 yard FG. 10-0 UConn. That field goal is a gift from Steve Spurrier. 4th down sneak deepin your own territory was Belichickess.

First wrap

UConn has dominated the first quarter. USC doesn't have a first down and the offense had one big lay in them. USC's defense is very good, but the Huskies already have a 10-0 lead. They need to establish the run and stay way from turnovers. Huskies' offense numbers aren't going to be pretty, but this is a game made for UConn...defensive slugfest. Can the Huskies sustain?

Update 2:05 p.m.:  Frazer is a bit inaccurate today. Not by much, but he is rushing his throws and has left a couple of plays out there. Still, the Great Dave Teggart is back and has a 44 yard FG easily into the win at Legion Field. UConn is leading 13-0, and South Carolina has yet to get a first down with 8:56 left in the second quarter.

Update 2:!2 p.m.: THird and 17, USC gets a first down with a 19 yard pass play. Soft defense, as we have seen all year. UConn should be aggressive. USC has life.

Update 2:!7 p.m.: Bad snap by USC on 52 FG. Dixon then goves over 1,000 yards on season on next carry. Huskies inside USC territory.

Halftime wrap

The UConn defense that everyone thought the Huskies were going to have has showed up. The defensive line has been dominant and the Huskies are bringing linebackers on blitzes to put pressure on Garcia. It's a terrific performance with USC getting only 4 first downs the entire half. UConn leads 13-0 and gets the ball to begin the second half.

Offensively has made a couple of plays, and put up points, but USC has an excellent defense and has kept them somewhat in the game. Andre Dixon is over 1,000 yards on the season. Little use of Jordan Todman, perhaps UConn wants more of a physical runner.

Huskies are up 13-0. Who would have expected that?

Third quarter

Update 2:51: Huskies need to establish run in second half. Running into kicker results in first down. Lucky play there, Huskies are going to need to soften that D up with the pass. USC defense is stout today.

Update 2:57 p.m.: A roughing passer penalty keeps drive alive. USC it own worst enemy here.

Update 3: p.m.: USC get a break.Frazer fumbles handoff from Dixon. That play could loom large for UConn.

Update 3:04 p.m.: Looks like Frazer was tripped by guard Olivier on fumble. Tough break for Huskies.

Update 2:05 p.m.:  Jesse Joseph with a forced fumble on a great play. USC's Stephen Garcia scrambles and Jesse Joseph works down field and comes from behind with a big hit.

Third quarter wrap 

Huskies leading 13-0 at the end of the third quarter. UConn's defense has come up big this game. USC has about 100 yards of total offense through three quarters. UConn is different right now. IUSC is hardly a great offense, but the Huskies are much more aggressive today. They are playing to their talent level and look confident. So much for my pregame thoughts. Perhaps too much time in SEC country makes you believe the hype. Should have known better, USC isn't Florida, Alabama or LSU.  


Fourth quarter


Update 3:38 p.m.: Andre Dixon 10 yard TD run on third down on a draw on third and 5. Good play call, and it's 20-0 #UConn. Huskies are hammering USC. 


Update 3:45 p.m.: USC fans exiting Legion Field. It's steady movement, but that red isn't as tight as it used to be. It's going to be a long drive home to South Carolina.

Weather: Cold, flurries and slight accumulation. Temp at 34F with a North win of 10 MPH. I am happy I am inside.
Coin Toss: UConn wins toss, will defer to second half.

First quarter


Update 8:09: USF keeping it on the ground first series. First five plays all runs, one a Daniels bootleg run pass option.

Update 8:13 p.m.: First drive stalls after a 20 yard loss by Daniels, who tried to scramble out of trouble and fell down.While not all called. USF's first 10 plays were runs.

Update 11:06 p.m.: Dainels 8 yard TD run. Lutrus had a line,. they had him with a chance to make a play. They didn't make the play. Huskies have 40 seconds, three timeouts.

Update 9:15 p.m.:  Kashif had a TD on a pass, Frazer made a bad read and went to Easley. That should have been 7. He threw it towards Kashif, but it went towards the sideline. Has to go through progressions here and not key on a receiver.

Update 8:53 p.m.: Lutrus recovers fumble. Huskies have ball the USF 29.

1st quarter wrap

Fast-moving first quarter at the Rent. game hasn't settled in yet. USF doesn't really look like it wants to pass and has 17 runs plays and 3 pass plays in the first quarter. Big play from Zach Frazer 46 yards to Marcus Easley and then Dixon's 12 yard run is the difference. Didn't see a replay of the extra point, but Desi didn't get it down. USF runs 20 plays for 12:35 time of possession. UConn, five plays and 2:25. They had the big play however.



Update 8:30 p.m.: Great throw from Frazer to Easley for 40 plus yards, and then an Andre Dixon 12 yard TD run. Cullen botched the extra point. 6-0 UConn.
Update 8:18 p.m.: Huskies got 3 and out. Not much here. Dixon runs for 7, loses two and then a 2 yard pass completion.

Update 8:25 p.m.: Love some of the scheme. Trevardo Williams standing up as a linebacker on third and long. They got pressure and Daniels had to throw it away.

Second quarter


Update 8:46 p.m.: Huskies have to get going on the ground. First down positive yardage is key. Huskies, like last week, just haven't run that many plays early on.

Update 8:55 p.m.: Holding call eliminates a first down inside the 10 yard line. That's like a turnover. Zach Hurd the culprit

Update 8:57 p.m. I don't get why punters and coaches have to down it inside the 5. Punting from own 36, just knock it inside the 10. Get it downed at the 8 or something. Huskies touch back. Net of 16 yards.

Update 9:05 p.m.: Snow really coming down. Huskies have to tighten up against the run.

Update 9:06 p.m.: Third down and 9 here on the UConn 40. Huskies need to get off the field. It's 6-0, but Huskies have only run 13 plays.

Update 9:09: 17 yard gain on a screen play. Huskies ready it right. Players didn't make plays

Update 9:11 p.m: USF 5-of-8 on third downs. That's the story here early.

Update 9:12 p.m.: Mike Ford 14 yard TD. Just another bad job by the UCOnn defense. Can't get off field on third down and just didn't shed blocks. Ford's TD was like he was running in mud, and they couldn't get him down. Xtra point good, USF 7, UConn 6.

Update 9:13 p.m.: UConn needs to get a drive going here. 2:33 left in half. No rhythm on offense and it isn't the defense. UConn's offense hasn't really been able to play this game here today.

Update 9:18 p.m.: Frazer 21 yard TD pass to Easley. Can Easley be anymore wide open? Easley has 5 catches for 106 yards and a TD in the first half. How was this kid on the bench early this season? Even last year, how did this guy not play?

Update 9:23 p.m.: Huskies botch a squib kick, balls is at 39. Then Daniels scrambles for 21. 15 seconds left for USF-UConn 40.

Update 9:26 p.m.: USF misses 46 yard field goal at half.

Halftime wrap

Huskies defense is allowing third down conversions and that is keeping the ball out of UConn's hands. Huskies have run only 19 plays and have had the ball for 9:49 in the first half. That's the story here. UConn leads 13-7 at half and USF can't cover Marcus Easley. He has 5 catches for 106 yards and a touchdown. That was a career coming into today. USF has only one score, but is controlling the clock. The passing game is how UConn breaks this open. Huskies have ball to open the third quarter. It's an important drive.

Third quarter

Update 9:52 p.m.: Huskies running game can't get going. Third and 3 was stopped short. Defense needs to get USF off the field on a third and 16 from the 4.

Update 10:05 p.m.: 5 yard TD pass from Zach Frazer to Isiah Moore. UConn, 20-7 over USF. Frazer having a pretty good game today. 11-of-15 for 145 yards and two touchdowns.

Update 10:!2 p.m.: Huskies defense letting down again. Third and 5 on the UConn 46, give up a 36 yard play. Aaron Bagsby took a bad angle on the play and was late coming over.

Update 10:13 p.m.: Safety play, again. Jerome Junior had a point blank shot at B.J. Dainels for 4 yard loss. He couldn't complete the tackle and Daniels rumbles in for a TD run. It's growing pains at safety. UConn 20, USF 14.

Fourth quarter

Update 10:27 p.m. Huskies get a 1st down run to the 17 and Moe Petrus gets a personal foul call. Can't do that to your team.

Update 10:29 p.m.: Field goal blocked from 47 yards. Huskies are their own worse enemies today. Had a 1st down at the 17, and lost it because of a personal foul. That's another pts that penalties left on the board.

Update 10:32 p.m.: USF driving At the 50. Huskies defense needs a stop. Don't like the vibe. Could have put USF away here and didn't.

Update 10:33 p.m.: Bagsby missed a tackle of Daniels and he ran for a first down. Safety play has been beyond poor for UConn this year. USF 8-of-12 on third down conversions.

Update 10:36 p.m.: USF first down on the UConn 31. Defense...

Update 10:38 p.m. 27-yard TD run for Daniels. Defense hasn't been good, but that isn't new this year. 21-20 USF.

Update 10:44 p.m.: Huskies start drive on their own 41. They have committed two key penalties that ruined drives, missed an xtra, and had a FG blocked. If Huskies lose, that's where it is. That, and the extremely poor tackling.  

Update 10:49 p.m.: Frazer playing an excellent game today. Dixon just scored a TD, Huskies lead. Going for 2.

Update 10:52 p.m.: Fake statue of liberty (it would have scored), and Frazer overthrows Easley. Ouch. Had a 2-point conversion there. Defense is going to win or lose this game. It's up to the defense.

Update 10:56 p.m.: Set the scene: 4:02 left, UConn leads 26-21.

Update 10:56 p.m.: What's up with the squib kicks? Hits off the USF up back, and USF gets it on their own 44. What is that?

Update 10: 58: Daniels runs for 16 yards. I hate to harp, but Bagsby had a shot. Vaughn left hurt, and they young safeties are having a tough game.

Update 10:59 p.m.: Third down and 2 from UConn 28, 1:32 left. USF calls a timeout. Third time today it was a delay, but USF got the coach to call timeout. I don't get why the official is throwing the flags and then picking it up.

Update 11:03 p.m.: Third down pass incomplete. Fourth down and 2. Here's the game...looks like complete at the 8.

Update: 8 yard td by daniels. Had a play on him by Lutrus, missed it. Huskies tackling has been poor. Conversion no good. 40 seconds left, three timeouts for Zach Frazer and UConn offense.

Update 11:09 p.m.: Huskies start on own 43.

Update 11:11 p.m.: Frazer to griffin to 11 yards. Huskies call timeout at the USF 45, 28 seconds left.

Update 11:13 p.m.: Frazer to Moore 14 yards, to USF 26. 13 seconds, 1 timeout left.

Update 11:14 p.m.: 42 yard field goal from Dave Teggart to win it. Here it is....got IT! The Great Teggart returns for the University of Connecticut.

UConn 29, USF 27. Teggart lifted on shoulders. Buy, did the Huskies escape.

Live Game Blog Notre Dame

Coin Toss: ND wins, defers. Huskies to receiver. Kickoff imminent. Take a deep breath -- University of Connecticut vs. Notre Dame is next. I will say, this is a lot different than Hofstra or Lafayette at Memorial Stadium.

Update 2:43 p.m.: First play is a Todman run for 4 yards. Run, run, run.

Update 2:44 p.m.: Huskies go 3 and out. Two incomplete passes. Like I said, run, run, run.

Update 2:50 p.m.: Third and 5, Clausen to Golden Tate for a TD off play-action. Huskies defense is going to need to get pressure on Clausen or he will throw for 400 yards today. 7-0 Notre Dame. Junior bit on the play-action. Huskies didn't look like they could stop ND. Perhaps, should settle for slowing them down.

Halftime wrap-up

Golden Domers are restless. The Huskies defense has tightened up and since the Witten sack of Clausen Notre dame has been quiet. Nice job by the secondary with Blidi Wreh Wilson and Dwayne Gratz playing much more agressively. So So first half for the UConn offense. Todman's big play bailed them out. Frazer has been under pressure and that's a problem for him. Running game has been productive. I would stick there. Frazer hasn't looked sharp, but hasn't made any mistakes. The big thing with Frazer is he struggles under pressure. He needs to be better in that regard, but that comes with experience.  It's 14-10 at the half, and it could be a lot worse. Huskies defense needs to build off that second quarter.

Update 2:57 p.m.: Frazer missed Dixon on third down pass. DIxon was open in the flat. Frazer threw high to easley. Huskies punted again. Hey, how about the defense slow ND down?

Update 3:03 p.m.: Huskies hold on third down. The secondary is more aggressive and Blidi Wreh Wilson made a nice play and almost came away with INT. Big play here, McClain punt return of 32 yards. Huskies have ball at Their own 42. Have to do something here.

Update 3:10 p.m.: Huskies stall at the ND 40. ND is getting some pressure on UConn. Not enough to sack, but enough to cause Frazer to feel uncomfortable. Huskies have to fix that. 3 possessions, 3 punts.

Update 315: computer issues. Blog is down for the game. Yeah, bad luck.

Update 3:32 p.m: Back up. Jordan Todman with a long 43 yard TD run. Todman scores a touchdown and then poses. Todman looked up at Touchdown Jesus and mirrored the pose. Edsall didn't like that.  14-7 Notre Dame, Pups on the board. They need to come up with some pressure on defense. The secondary is more aggressive, but it's too hard when Clausen just sits back there untouched. Clausen is playing flag football.

Update  3:38 p.m.: Lindsey Witten sighting. He had a first down sack on Clausen, and the resulting drive is a punt. They need more of Witten today.

Update 3:46 p.m.: Erik Kuraczea limps off. Not sure how serious. Huskies have to protect Frazer here. Frazer just isn't comfortable under pressure. Anyhow. Setting the scene. UConn is 2-7 at midfield down 14-7 with 6:43 left.

Update 3:54 p.m.:  Teggart with a 39-yard field goal. 14-10 Notre Dame 3:14 left at half. They have to hold ND here at bay, go into the half and regroup. Nice comeback by the Huskies, but they have to get it to the half.

Update 4:04 p.m.: Huskies get one first down, but then three plays for minimal gains. ND is going to get ball back with 1:33. That's a poor job by the offense. At a minimum they have to get this game to the half 14-10. Now Clausen and Co. have the ball at their own 15 with 1:25 left. Defense needs to make another play.

Third quarter

Update 4:29 p.m.: Key dirve to beging third quarter. Pups make a stand, then things will start to get interesting.

Update 4:33 p.m.: Poor tackling by the Huskies to start the third period. Still, chance for a stop.

Update 4:34 p.m.: Sums up Huskies season. Fourth and 2 from the UConn 30. Run up middle. Huskies have the play stopped, but can't complete play. Missed tackle, it's first down inside the 10 after a 26 yard gain. Playmakers. Playmakers, Playmakers.

Update 4:38 p.m.: Huskies toughen inside the 10. It's fourth down from the 2 yard line. Looks like Weis will kick the field goal. To me, that's a mistake. They got a chance to put UConn away, and they go for 3. That's a very conservative play by Weis.

Update 4:42 p.m.: Jordan Todman 96 yard kickoff reutrn for a touchdown. Todman flips the ball to the official. Huskies are tied 17-17. Hold your horses Husky fans. I told you Weis kicking the ball was a bad play.

Update 4:48 p.m.: Huskeis hold Notre Dame. The defense is gaining confidence. Confidence is a dangerous thing. Can the Huskies offense sustain a drive here?

Update 4:54 p.m.:  Huskies catch a break, and boy they needed it. 23 yard pass completion to Floyd was stripped by McClain and recovered by UConn on the 14.

Fourth quarter
 
Update 5:12 p.m.:  Defense has been on the field quite awhile. Notre dame at UConn 18. Huskies need to hold ND to a field goal.

Update 5:15 p.m.: Huskies are fortunate Charlie Weis is outsmarting himself. 1st and 10 from the 11, and Weis runs two straight plays. Third down is a fade pass incomplete. UConn can't cover Tate and Floyd. I would attack with them. But, Weis is running the ball. FG good, but no TD, and that's good for the Huskies. 20-17 Notre Dame.

Frazer has to get the passing game going. He is 9-of-19 for 90 yards. he has been bothered by pressure.

Update 5:20 p.m.: Huskies need positive yards on first down. Get ball on 40 yard line after kick out of bounds, and then Todman -2 rush. Can't get in passing situtions.

Update 5:23 p.m.: Edsall goes for it on 4 and 1 on the UConn 49, Dixon gets 2 yards. That's a great call by Edsall. Got to throw caution to win here.

Update 5:24 p.m.: Bad play by ZXach Frazer. He threw an INT in endzone after long play to Easley. Had Easley open, bad pass. He didn't get it up in the air enough. Crushing play for the Huskies.

Update 5:28 p.m.: Defense comes up big. Third and 11 play, Reyes with a sack. Huskies are going to get the ball back with 5 minutes to go down 20-17.

Update 5:35 p.m.: OUCH! Easley called for holding on a Dixon gain inside the 5. Still, first and 2 from the 18 yard.

Update 5:38 p.m.: Dixon scores, but holding. You got to be kidding me. Luck of the Irish. Two holding calls save the day for the Irish. Sherman held. Weak hold but a hold. Easely hold? I would like to see more replays.

Update 5:41 p.m.: Third and 11 from the 15. Inside handoff. I don't like it. At 4-5 put it in the air and see if you can win the game. It's risky with Frazer, but, you got to go for the win. Teggart from 29.

Update 5:43 p.m.: Teggart kicks it. 20-20 with 1:10 left. Balls is in Jimmu Clausen's hands. Irish have one timeout.

Update 5:46 p.m.: thrid and 10 on the 21. UConn can get ball back with a stop....

Update 5:47 pm.: UConn has finally made a play. Fumble at the ND 41 recovered by Vaughn. 49 seconds left. Two timesouts. THe Huskeis have a victory over Notre Dame in their grasp.

Update 5:49 p.m.: Game is in Teggart's hands! UConn has a 37 yard field goal to win.

Update 5:51 p.m.: Teggart missed the field goal to win. I am sick right now.

Update 5:52 p.m.: Missed it right. He has to make that kick. I don't know what to say. More adversity for the Huskies.

Overtime

Update 5:53: Huskies have ball first. Now edge goes over to Notre Dame.

Update 5:58 p.m.: Third and 8 from the 11 and Frazer throws a TD to Kashif Moore. It's under review. xtra point is good. 27-20. If Huskies defense holds, then, it's victory. Xtra point coming.  

Update 6:05 p.m.: ND gets ball in second overtime.

Update 6:07 p.m.: Blidi Wreh Wilson breaks up a throid and five pass. 35 yard FG for ND in seocnd OT. It's good. A TD wins it for the Huskies.  30-27 ND. Huskies on deck. a TD, and they leave South Bend a winner.

Update 6:11 p.m.: Dixon 4 yard TD beats Notre dame.,

Live game blog

Final seconds: Stadium is in a blackout. I can't tell you how close the field is to stands.At most, it's 15 yards away and at some spots it's less than 10 feet. It's suffocating. This place is going wild. Bonkers.

It's 54 degrees with a Southwest win of 5 MPH. PERFECT.

More prekick: Cincinnati has a million people on the field. The band needs to leave. A bit over the top with the fireworks. Let's get this game going already.

Toss: Cincinnati to receiver. Ok, just saying, got to stop the kickoff return for a TD. Hate to bring it up.

Opening kick: It's a touchback. Victory for the Huskies.

Update 8:!4 p.m.: Odd defense formation. Greg Lloyd at DT, in the nickel.

Update 8:16 p.m.: Cincinnati tearing UConn up on first drive. 44 yard gain by Ramsey. That's one big play. Cincinnati is about to score a TD.

Update 8:20 p.m.: Cincinnati TD. That was quick. Isaiah Pead from a yard out. The Huskies are down 7-0 with 12:03 left in the first quarter. Way too easy, WAY TOO easy.

Update 8:23 p.m.: I don't like the Lloyd at DT look. That side got blown off the ball on the long run.

Update 8:29 p.m.: Whoa Nellie. Jordan Todman 6 yard TD. run. That was an impressive drive by the Huskies. 11 play 79 yard drive.

Update 8:39 p.m.: Huskies temporarily stop the Bearcats after a 54 yard gain. Cincy with 41 yard field goal. 10-7 Cincinnati. Huskies have to make some plays on defense.

Update 8:45 p.m.: Streaky Frazer shows up. Huskies lucky to escape. Overthrew Ryan Griffin for a TD. Overthrew Dixon on a screen that should have been picked off. Huskies punt. Now the defense has to show up.

Update 8:48 p.m.: Huskies can't stop Cincy. They are going to have to gamble and send a pass rush. Collaros is picking UConn apart. Gilyard 7 for 108 in the first QUARTER.

First wrap

The Huskies can't stop Cincinnati. 227 yards of offense in the first quarter for the Bearcats. Whatever the scheme was it's not working. Huskies are in a danger zone here. Cincinnati showing no signs of slowing down. The defense, even on a fourth and 2, got beat for a 25 yard play. This is a talent issue. They need a pass rush, they can't let Collaros sit back there and carve them up.

Second quarter

Update 8:57 p.m.: Collaros with a 5-yard TD run. UConn doesn't belong on the same field as Cincinnati. 17-7, 14:12 left in the second quarter.

Update 9:09 p.m.: Gotta make plays. Frazer had Easley open down the middle and Easley dropped the ball. Teggart has a 41 yard field goal. But, they should have had it inside the 15. Field goals won't cut it today.

Update 9:12 p.m.: Cincy runs it out to the 40. UConn's special teams coverage is atrocious.

Update 9:17 p.m.: This is too easy. Third and 10 and they do a simple pitch and catch. It's an embarrassing performance by UConn's defense. Cincinnati is great, but no one is this good.

Update 9:23 p.m.: 27 yard FG from Cincinnati. That's a semi win for the Huskies, but Cincinnati is doing whatever it wants on the field. 4 drives, 2 TDs, 2 FGS. 20-10 Cincinnati.

Update 9:24 p.m.: Huskies get ball here with 4:49 left. Long drive and a score and go into the half and try and figure this out.

Update 9:27 p.m.: Huskies go 3 and out. THat can't happen and is a poor job by UCOnn. Here is the ball game folks, Huskies punt with 3:52 left. UConn needs a stop. Can they hold Cincinnati here? Cincy start on its own 17 with 3:42 left.

Update 9:31 p.m.: Had a third and 5, gave up a 20 yard play. AND, then the ball game. Collaros 43 yard TD pass. 403 yards of offense in the first half. This is worse than the 66-21 game at West Virginia three years ago. The defense doesn't belong on the field.

Halftime wrap

And Cincy is lucky too? A tipped hail mary goes for a big gainer to the UConn 8. This is the worst performance by a UConn defense than is imaginable. 30-10 at the half. 457 yards of offense. I don't know quite what to say. How are they able to do it? UConn looks like a high school team out here.

Here are the stats: Zach Collaros was 19-of-24 for 333 yards in the first half. Mardy Gilyard was 9 receptions for 127 yards. Yeah. The defense didn't show much resistance tonight.

We could all see this coming. This isn't the same defense that beat up on Baylor. The Huskies are a defeated bunch, and are getting out-classed. 20 points is by no means impossible. But, they have shown no ability to even provide passive resistance.

The most yards gained in FBS history is Houston with 1,021 over SMU on Oct. 21 1989. This is remote, but it's in jeopardy.

Update 10 p.m.: UConn needs to get more aggressive on defense. WAY TOO soft on the wide receivers. They will get beat deep. But, the status quo isn't working.

Update 10:04 p.m.: More poor play. Kashif Moore dropped a 20 yard pass. Then on third down, Frazer over threw on an easy pass in the flat Todman. These are not difficult plays. The Huskies have to be perfect on offense, its there, but eventually you have to help yourself. No reason they can't move the ball on this Cincinnati defense.

Update 10:14 p.m.: UCOnn 46 yard TD run by Todman. They have some life here. It's not impossible. If you can believe it, Cincinnati was so good in the first half, the crowd is flat. UConn defense needs something here. They can score on Cincinnati. Can they stop them?

Everything has to go right here. To make this thing a game, this was the first step. A quick score in the third quarter.

Update 10:19 p.m.: Why even play Mardy Gilyard? Way too soft. Playing scared on defense. This is not a good gameplan.

Update 10:@1 p.m.: Zach Collaros TD run. This defense is uncompetitive. Playing way too soft, and Jerome Junior blew a pair of tackles on the play.I don't know what they are trying to do out. 37-17. 545 yards and counting. Ugh. Blog may get shut down from here on in.

Update 10:23 p.m: This is essentially what happens in the fourth quarter, for the entire game. The Huskies are young on defense, and right now they aren't in the same class.

Update 10:26: That's going to be it for the blog this evening. Huskies just aren't there yet. The defense never gave the offense a chance, and the offense can score points, but just isn't consistent enough.

Update 10:33 p.m.: I gotta give UConn credit here. Reggie McClain ran back a TD on a punt. THis is a 13 point game with 2:08 left in the third quarter. UConn has shown no signs of being able to stop Cinncinnati but are still at 37-24.

Update 10:39 p.m.: Zach Collaros has put on a show. If he is the bakcup QB, I don't want to see the starter. You can't take him out of the lineup EVER. Don't know about his pro potential, but he is a lethal passer accuracy wise and a terrific runner. I don't think I have ever seen a player do this. The kid has looked like the best player in the nation tonight.

Update 10:#7 p.m.: This may be the best QB play I have ever seen. Collaros hitting receivers everywhere. Incredible player.
It's still somewhat a game.

Update 10:43 p.m.: Robert 43 yard kick. That should do it. 40-24. That's two scores and 2 2-point conversions, but what's the chances of that? Collaros is the real deal.

Update 10:48 p.m.: Kashif Moore breaks free for a big play. They called it a TD, but he is down at the 1-yard line. Todman with third TD. About to go for 2. Todman, HB option pass to Marcus Easley for a 2-point conversion.

YOU GOT TO BE KIDDING ME? This is 40-32 with 13:21 left. UConn has no business to be in this game, it's borderline an embarrassing play on defense. But, there is something about this team. This is a character test and they are living up to it despite the score. Can the defense get one stop?

Update 10:56 p.m.: UCOnn has Cincinnati at third and 8 at the Cincy 32. Here is a big play. Here we go. They stop them. Huskies...HAVE A CHANCE TO TIE THE GAME.

Update 11:12 p.m.: Jordan Todman 2 yard TD run. 5:03 left. The Huskies are going to go for 2. Here it is.

Update 11:13 pm: Frazer sacked. 40-38. 5:03 left. Defenses turn.

Update 11:19 p.m.: Not there. BLid Wreh Wilson just got burned on a third and 8 slant. Huskies just can't get off field. 2:51 left. Cincy on own 24. Playing too soft. What you gonna do? UConn one first down away from losing game. Valiant effort, but they need a stop.

Update 11:@3 p.m.: Collaros runs just short of a first down. It's being reviewed, could go either way. I don't think he got it. fourth down.

Update 11:25 p.m.: Fourth down play, run outside by Pead, 14 yard TD run. Robert Vaughn had a chance to make a play, the story of a season, and he fell down. That's all folks. 47-38. Great effort by the Huskies.

Update 11:33 p.m.: Frazer TD pass to Easley. This one is still not done left.13 seconds to go. Onside kick coming. Incredible.

The beginning: Rutgers runs back opening kick 99 yards. Just poor kickoff coverage. The head coach may want to stop deferring the kickoff. Two weeks in a row? Wow.That took the air right out of the stadium. 7-0 Rutgers.

Update 12:11: Frey returns it 50- yards to the Rutgers 43.

Update 12:12: Todman in at running back. Huskies driving.

Update 12:!6: Teggart FG. 7-3 Rutgers. Hold your breath, here comes a kickoff for UConn.

Update 12:18 p.m.: Cullen kicks ballout of bounds. That's an improvement.Special teams is UConn's Achillies Heel. They can't win these games if they aregoing to be -7 to -10 on special teams every week.

Update 12:31 p.m.: Teggart misses from 36 yards. Houston, we have a problem here. No confidence from Teggart. In case your keepiong score, Huskies are -10 on special teams right now.  I am going to quibble with the playcalling, don't like a WR screen on third and 3. But, the FG kicker has to make that. Special teams...again.

Update 12:37p.m.: Endres is down. Looks like left shoulder. Endres came down right down on it .Blair Bynes hit him.  Zach Frazer in, he threw a beautiful pass to Ryan Griffin on the numbers, but Griffin dropped his second ball of the day. I love Griffin, but he needs some hands.

Update 12:45p.m.: Frazer throws a pick. Huskies are deflated in almost every area. Defense needs to come up big here. Ball on UConn 23.

Update12:47p.m.: Huskies hold,and Rutgers misses FG. UConn offense needs to get going.

Update 12:55 p.m.: Endres back in a sling on the sideline.Frazer on 4th down throws his second pick.Huskies need to regroup here. Offense doesn't look smooth. Frazer is a turnover machine.

Update 12:57 p.m.: Defense is terrific today. The offense  needs to get going here. Frazer has to relax and the line has to get the running game going.

Update 1:05 p.m.: Huskies stuffed on third and and 1. This is not shaping up into a good game for the Huskies. Surrendered a TD on the opening kick,missed a field goal,lost their starting QB and the backup has thrown two picks. The defense is dominating,that's about it. Doesn't look like Huskies have anything left in the tank. 9:39 left second quarter. They need a turnover to lift them up.

Update 1:15 p.m.: Tim Brown TD. Awful coverage by UConn's secondary. 14-3 Rutgers. Just a flat first half performance. UConn will go one of two ways here.

Update 1:20p.m.. Robbie Frey 100 yard TD return! Huskies have some life. Has this game changed in a matter of moments. Big lift, it was reenergizing.

Update 1:27 p.m.: Rutgers converts a throid an 13, and then a perosnal foul. UConn is its own worst enemy. Rutgers at UConn 29.

Update 1:29 p.m.: Reggie McClain hurton the 20-yard line holding right leg. Looks like he is walking OK. Three redshirt freshmen in in secondary. Huskies desperately need a break.

Update 1:31p.m.: Secondary burned. Mark Harrison TD. 21-10 Rutgers. UConn defense struggling against pass.

Update 1:35 p.m.: Now Frey is hurt.Looks like left shoulder also.This is a disaster for the Huskies.

Halftime wrap

Awful first half for the Huskies so far. Teggart misses 49 yard field goal. Frazer just can't get the ball down and that's going to lead to mroe INTS in the second half. Worst first half of the year for UConn. They lose Endres, McClain, three others Moore, Griffin and Frey are injured, miss two field goals, throw two interceptions and the secondary is too young and notgood enough yet. Three redshirt freshmen are playing at secondary. Huskies need to wake up here, and Frazer wanted the opportunity, now he has to do something with it.

Third quarter

Opening kick: Robbie Frey is not out there at kick returner. Huskies really need to buckle down here.

Update 2:09p.m: Three and out first possession for Huskies. Just no life. Huskies defense needs a stop here.

Update 2:11p.m.:  Brought pressure on third down,and got off the field. I think UConn has to manufacture pressure in the second half and live with the consequences.

Update 2:23p.m.: Dropped ball by Isiah Moore...and, another interception by Zach Frazer. It's a bad performance.

Update 2:27p.m: Huskies backed up at the 2-yard line. Have to get running game going. Huskies need to score and get this within a reasonable distance.

Update 2:30p.m.: No concentration for Huskies.Dixon breaks off a 45 yard gain, but holding on UConn. UConn has self-destructed.

Fourth quarter

Update 2:45 p.m.: Fourht down and 5 on Rutgers 45, UConn to punt, and whistled for a false start. No concentration today.Huskies don't have it today I am afraid to say. Too much to overcome.

Update 2:49 p.m.: Did I mention concentration. Robbie McClain and Nick Williams back to get a punt. Neither grabs it.  Ends up being a 60 yard punt. NO concentration.

Update 2:57p.m.: Easley TD. Incredible explosion. 2-point conversion is tackle eligible. Left tackle screen. Mike Ryan with the catch. He made a great catch.  Rutgers 21, UConn 18. UConn D needs to make a play here

Wow. They nullify the2-point. Ruled ineligible. Edsall goes nuts and gets flagged for a penalty. I have never seen Randy Edsall that upset.  A lot coming out there for Edsall.

Also, they kick extra point instead of going for 2 again after the penalty. That's a good play, plenty of time left and you want to be able to stay with in a TD if you hold to a field goal

Update 3:11 p.m.: Huskies hold Rutgers. UConn hasball on its own 30 with 7:59 left.

Update 3:16 p.m. Third down 7 and the Huskies can't get a decentplay off. Went to the well too much on a RB wheel play. They got to get a better option than that.

Update 3:18 p.m. Update on 2-point conversion. The tackle, Mike Ryan, was eligible for a lateral and not a forward pass.

Update 3:22 pm.: Absolutely awful possession by Rutgers. They go wildcat for three plays. They try a second 12 option pass to Savage. UConn has 87 yards to go to win. 3 timeouts, 3:49 left.

Update 3:33 p.m.: Huskies on 2 minute drive. fourth down coming. Why isn't Easley in on this drive? Don't know.

Update 3:38 p.m.: Huskies have first and goal on 7 yard line. 1:03 left. This is the game, see you on the other side.

Update 3:42 p.m.: Todman 2 yard TD run on fourth down! Huskies lead 24-21 with 38 seconds left. Rutgers one timeout.

Update3:49: I don't know what to say. UConn has 17 seconds left. For the second straight week they give up a long TD play. It'sa bad job by the UConn defense. How do you give up that play? I am speechless.

Update 12:09 p.m. First play: 1 yard run for Dixon. And were off.

Update 12:10: Hmm. three and out in 35 seconds. Endres first two passes were awful. He was high on the first, second was behind Smith. 35 seconds. Wow. That was bad. Best quote of the day, and its early, from Neill Ostrout of the CT Post: "That's their four quarter offense. What are they using that now for?"

Update 12:16 p.m.: Offense comes alive. Dixon breaks off a 16 yard TD run. Great cut inside by Dixon to freeze defenders. Teggart PAT. 7-0 Huskies. 6 plays, 61 yard.

Update 12:32 p.m.: Dixon has gotten all the carries. Tremendous production. Interestingly, no Todman yet.


Update 12:33 p.m. A LITTLE WILDCAT FOR THE HUSKIES! Dixon taking the snap. False start though, there goes that.

Update 12:36 p.m. Drive fizzles at the 11. A pair of false starts hurt the Huskies. Then, Teggart misses a 27 yard FG. Ouch, that hurts. I am stunned Teggart missed it. Not a good end to a drive that began on their own 19.

First quarter wrap:

Huskies up 7-0, but are stewing over a missed 27 yard FG. You can't have that and win consistently. The running game is really moving. Dixon has 10 rushes for 66 yards in first quarter. Huskies have dominated action pretty much. But, they have to get off the field on third down, and have to cash in on opportunities. Quick observation. On passing situations, wholesale changes. Jesse Joseph, Jory Johnson and Jerome Junior -- JJ cubed -- are all out for Trevardo Williams, Aaron Bagbsy, and Bilid Wreh Wilson in the nickel.

Update 12:58 p.m.: After a 19 play drive that was 5-for-6 on third down, a 80 yard drive Bilal Powell has 1 yard run 7-7. That was poor defense.Can't get off the field, and had 3 opportunities at sacks that were missed. 9 MINUTE drive.  This defense can be very very good, it's not there yet. 7-7 with 7:47 left in the half.

Update 1:04 p.m.: Kashif Moore sighting. 67 yard off a catch and run. Great lay. Huskies inside the 15.

Update 1:06 p.m.: Go figure.9 minute drive for VIlle, 2:54 drive by UConn. 6 plays 78 yards. 14-7 UConn with 4:53 left in half.

Update 1:12 p.m.: Robert Vaughn has an INT go through his hands.Tip leads to a 48 yard pass play. Huskies are fine, they just aren't making the plays.

Update 1:16 p.m.: 3 yard run from Powell. Extra point was blocked, but Jerome Junior called off side. Then, Ryan Payne missed another kick. Go figure. Huskies could have used that last week. 14-13 UConn.

Update 1:19 p.m.: Hey. UConn has 3 timeouts, ball on 40, and ae going to try and score with 1:00 minute left in half. This new Edsall, I don't know.

Update 1:21 p.m.: Why did the Huskies not call a timeout with the ball at the 29 with the clock running. And Endres takes the sack back at the 38. Endres has to throw the ball there. That's Cody's biggest weaknesses.

Update 1:23 p.m. That's just bad play to end the half. No timeout at the 29, Endres takes a sack, inaccurate and a bad catch at the 10 by Mike Smith and finally Endres' first INT of the year.

Half wrap

Huskies should up much more. UConn needs to make a play. The game isn't about scheming and execution only, that gets you into position to make a play. UCOnn isn't getting it on offense, and on defense it's been pretty bad. Be it not containing the QB when they get pressure to allowing an INT to go through hands. The Huskies need ot start making and completing plays or the season is dangerously close from turning for the worse.

Third quarter

Update 1:55 p.m.: Marcus Easley TD catch for second straight week. Where did he come from? Good size and speed. It's about time. Huskies turn a fumble into a 21-13 lead. Defense gets a stop here and the Huskies offense could put this one away. Need a defensive stop.

Update 2:03 p.m.: The UConn pass defense has become a sieve. Sure, it's pressure they aren't getting, but guys are wide open. Luckily for the Huskies Howard strips ball at 4 yard line and recovers it. UConn is lucky today so far.

Update 2:09 pm.: Marcus Easley with a 46 yard catch. Easley has the size that you want in a WR. Looks like he can get separation too.

Update 2:16 p.m.: Teggart with a 40 yard field goal. 24-13 UConn. Huskies have a double digit lead in the second half for the sixth straight game. Can they bring this home?

Update 2:21 p.m.: McClain INT. That kid has a tremendous ability to play corner in the nickel. 10 career INTs. Considering this is his first year as a starter, that's tremendous. The INT ends a 16 straight completion streak from Alex Froman. '

Update 2:25 p.m.: Andre Dixon TD. Man has turned into a tremendous back. He has 24 carries right now, 136 yards and 3 TDs.

Third wrap

Louisville self-destructed, which UConn was more than happy to make the most of. 31-13 end of 3. The fourth quarter should be about the Huskies putting this game away in a crisp fashion. The Louisville team is such a shell of what they used to be. It's kind of sad to be honest.

Fourth quarter

Update 2:35 p.m.: Huskies 4th quarter D is showing up. Have allowed Ville to drive down inside the 20 thanks to poor tackling. Ville in the 14.

Update 2:39 p.m.: My god. The UConn defense allows another 4th quarter score.

Update 2:43 p.m.: The dreaded fourth quarter lead for the Huskies. Can they hold on?

Update 2:48 pm.: Huskies drive fizzles at midfield. Here is the scene, UConn leading 31-19 with 8:06 left. Ville has ball on 20. UConn needs to close this out.

Update 3:04 p.m.: Todman TD run. 38-19 UConn. Warm up the bus,preferably for 15 minutes or more. Good boucne back win for the Huskies assuming they don't lose the lead in the final 3:!3.

Kickoff: Can the URI captains take any longer to get to midfield for the toss. Just saying. Hurry up young Rams. UConn wins toss and takes the ball. I can't take this new Randy Edsall. It's like he's cheating on me. Two weeks in a row decides to receive. Incredible.

Game 12:04 p.m.: Dixon starts and goes 20 something yards first play. Mike Lang also starts.

Game update 12:06 p.m.: Endres TD pass to Andre Dixon. 19 yards. First career TD pass for Endres.  7-0 Huskies. This one doesn't look like it's going to be competitive.

Update 12:14 p.m.: People are not even in their seats yet. Jordan Todman 3 yard TD run set up by a Reggie McClain interception. 14-0 UConn 9:23 left in first quarter.

Update 12:26 p.m.: Endres fumbles the ball at 33 after review. Endres just didn't make quick enough decisions. The protection was fine. Got to pull the trigger.  That and short range accuracy are Endres' greatest weaknesses. Quicker decisions needed.

Update 12:31 p.m.: Uh Oh. 67 yard TD pass from Chris Etienne to Ty Bynum. Corner passed him off to safety Jerome Junior who just flat out whiffed on tackle. Junior wanted to put on a big hit and missed. He should have just made the tackle. 14-7 UConn. Not a good sequence.

Update 12:34 p.m.: Mike Lang's first career catch is fumbled. Huskies two turnovers on consecutive possession. URI takes over at UConn 44.  Bagsby in at safety after junior burned.

Update 12:39 p.m.: Meme Wylie out for game with arm injury. McClain has his second INT of the game. 2:35 left first quarter.

First quarter wrap: Huskies jumped out to 14-0 and then stopped playing.UConn has fumbles 3 times, two recovered by URI. Some of the breakdowns are mental. When the Huskies aren't making mistakes they can't be stopped. Endres 8-of-9 to open but has fumbles twice. One was on him, the last one was on Dan Ryan who was just beat easily off the ball by the end for a sack.

Second quarter

Update 12:48: Todman 8-yard TD run. Huskies have got the game back. 21-7.


Update 1:02 p.m.: Huskies having trouble protecting Endres on certain plays. Have to do a better job there. Desi Cullen dropped a punt snap, avoided two tackles and took two steps before actually punting it. Great play by Cullen. Why he dropped the ball? I have no idea. Looked like Australia rules football there.

Update 1:19 p.m.: Teggart 19 yard field goal with 30 seconds left in half. 24-7 #UConn. It hasn't been a crisp game for the Huskies. That's the best I can say. The first two drives were crisp, then that's it. Huskies are in no danger of losing this game, and the passing game is working when Endres has time, but it should be better. Biggest thing is the running game isn't really dominating. Offensive line hasn't been nearly as good against URI as it was against Baylor.

Halftime wrap: 24-7 at half, no danger of losing for the Huskies. Cody Endres 12-of-15 for 152 and a touchdown. He is doing a nice job. A couple of times held ball on too long, but he can throw the ball. Mike Smith getting a lot of work in the passing game. 6 catches 61 yards. Running game isn't being featured. Todman 10 carries for 63 yards.

Huskies had one big misplay on defense by Jerome Junior that led to 66 yard TD play. Aaron Bagsby has replaced Junior and been all over the place. Not a great first half for the Huskies, but they are in no danger of losing. 24-7.       

Third quarter

1:48 p.m.: Concentration thing. Howard on a punt sets up short because the two previous URI punts were short. The punt goes 58 yards and Howard tries for an over the shoulder catch and muffs the punt. URI takes over at the UConn 20. 5 fumbles, 3 lost for the Huskies. Simple concentration.

Update 1:52 p.m.; Huskies defense hold on a 4th and short from the UConn 11. Huskies take over. Defense has play well except for one play.

Update  2:09 p.m..: Jordan Todman 2 yard TD run, his third of the day. UConn 31-7. That's about if for the live game blog today. Going to make this and early day. Huskies need to clean it up, but getting some good work against Rhode Island.

Update 2:18 p.m.: Give it up for true frosh Mike Lang's first career TD catch of 50 yards. He had 1 catch earlier, and he fumbled it. He was wide open on the throw. 38-7 UConn. I like Lang, spent about 10 minutes with him Tuesday. His parents were coming up possibly for game. That would be a good present. I'll check after.

Pregame: Baylor students lined up and storm the field in unison. They create the gauntlet for the players to run past. It's pretty good. Best moment was a kid in a gorilla costume drop kicking the banana costume. Mr.Kool Aid has made an appearance.

UConn wins toss, will receive! UConn never receives. Already out of comfort zone.

Update 4 p.m.: Huskies discovered that Sherman is a pass threat. Endres connects with Isiah Moore 28 yard pass. Endres looks confident first drive.

Update 4:09:  Drive fizzles at 22.The Great Dave Teggart 39-yard field goal. 3-0 Huskies. That's encouraging. Endres looks comfortable. 11plays 55yards, 4:38 in time. 3-0 UConn.

Update 4:14pm.: On third and four, Jay Findlay goes 74 yards for a TD. Just a simple up the gut run, Robbie Vaughn whiffed on a tackle 10 yards in. That's a miss.Huskies opened up in nickel. Only 2 LBs out there. Tough start for the pups.

Update 4:19: Mike Lang in at WR. Endres missed two open receivers on a great play fake on 1st down. On third down blitz Endres holds on to ball too long. He has to get through progressions quicker or go to his check down receiver. Three and outs...not a good sign.

 Update 4:28p.m.: Nick Williams an appearance. That's 3 true frosh WRs playing this year.

Update 4:32 p.m.: Huskies moving the ball. There are plays out here. Endres had an open receiver got the ball to him. UConn catches break. Todman fumbles after 10 yard gain. Fumble recovered 10 yards by Kanuch. Huskies 1st and goal from 2.

Second quarter

Update 4:45 p.m: Dixon 1 yard TD run. Huskies large Time of possession lobsided for Huskies. They can throw and run against Baylor.Comes down to execution.

Update 4:45 p.m.: Huskies defense playing great except for 1 play. McClain sacks Griffin on third down. Griffin is fun to watch though.

 Update 4:51 pm: While the Huskies are in a timeout. The offense is going on another drive. Huskies moving the ball on the ground and Endres is 7-12 passing. It's there for the Huskies' taking. Dixon, strong tough running. Erik Kuraczea is in a guard.

Update 4:54 pm: Dixon looks great running. It's '07 version of Dixon, running tough,slashing. Offense looks great and is beating down Baylor.

Update 4:56 pm: Drive stalls 14. Endres couldn't connect on short 3 and 4 pass. Kid can throw it deep, but his middle range accuracy needs a ton of work. Dave Teggart FG. 13-7. Keep the ball on the ground Moorhead.

Update 5: pm: The defense is incredible. Bad special trams play however. Jerome Junior ran into kicker on 4th down. It wasn't a 1stdown,but they lost 30 yards on the play.Huskies takeover at their own 23.

Update 5:06p.m: Ednres was sacked. He is not getting the ball out quick enough. He has to make quicker decisions.

Update 5:16 p.m.: Penalties hurting the Huskies. Had 1 15yard gain called back on previous call by holding. Had a run into kicker. And late in the second a 20 yard pass play was called back because of an illegal man downfield. Need to concentrate. 

Update 5:18 p.m.: Teggart kick of 45 yards is blocked. Huskies go in leading 13-7. I feel like the Huskies should be up much more.

Halftime wrap: Huskies have been superior in team in every way except for a single play. Without the 72 yard TD run, the Bears have 16 yards of total offense on 17 plays. Huskies up 13-7, should be more. Teggart jhd a kick blocked at the end of half. It's not akiller and 46 yards is no gimme. But,he can make that play. The running game is dominating, and the Huskies defense is even better than it was a week ago. Those option passes are going for a yardor 2 at most. Penalties have hurt the Huskies, and the inability of Endres to make quick reads. Endres  is playing a decent game and he is a classic thrower. But, he needs to make quicker reads. He is 8-of15 for 107 yards, it should be much more. Receivers are open. Huskies are a good passing game from being a real threat in the Big East. Everything else is top shelf. Endres has played well, but he needs to get the ball out quicker. You have to like what you see from Endres, just needs to make quicker decisions.

Update 6:52 p.m.: Dixon for his third TD today. Huskies up27-7. Plenty of time left, but Baylor looks like deadman walking. Is Griffin a cardiac surgeon?

Update 6p.m.: Third and 28 and the Baylor Bears get a 1st down? This is an awful job by the defense. This is too many times this season already. Could have finsihed off the Bears, now Huskies gave them life.

Update 6:01 p.m.: Griffin 8-yard TD run. Too quick and had bad special teams play. The third and longs are ridiculous. 27-14 UConn. Awful job by defense, I don't know why they continue to give up these third and a miles.

Update 6:09 p.m.: Huskies drive stalls atmidfield. Here is a simple observation. When Endres has to throw the ball downfield he is fine(throwsa great ball). Anything between 5 and 10 yards is not even close. Go figure.

Update 6:14 p.m.: Halfback option gets blown up. Some reason Kendall Wright throws it up for grabs. Jerome Junior first career INT. Easiest one he will ever make.

Update: 7:21. Baylor has ball at their own 36 on third and 5. One more score by the Huskies should do it. I would feel a lot better about the game if the Huskies didn'tgive up the third and 28 and susbequent TD.


Update 6: 30 p.m.: My god.Penalties killing Huskies drives. Two false starts penatlies abd a holding call have ruined a 56 yardpunt return from Jasper Howard. Huskies should be crusing to the game. Now,it's still iffy.

Update 6:40 p.m.: Huskies justpunding the ball onthe ground.Dixon and Todman each over 100 yards. Huskies have 46 rushes for 1 96 yards. 8 minutes left in game 27-13.

Update 7:46 p.m.: Teggart 34 yard FG. That's 30-14 UConn. That should be enough with 5:45 left.

Update 12:06 pm: UNC three and out first possession. Good start. JapserHoward tackled by the back judge on the play. He had to hurdle the judge.

Update 12:08: Carolina holds.A Frazer incomplete pass was picked up and returned for a touchdown. But it was ruled incomplete on the field. He had a nice pass to the tight end that was stripped away. It's a work in progress. At least they got they punt off.

Update 12:22 p.m. McClain INT of UNC's Yates. Great catch.

Update 12:36 p.m: Kashif Moore had a first down on an end around. He got destroyed by Charles Brown and fumbled the ball. He had the first down. Missed opportunity. UConn was at the UNC 35.

Update 12:25p.m.: Huskies gothree and out. UNC defense is stifiling. Punt was too close to being blocked.Crowd groaned. Ended up being a 52 yard kick to the UNC 3.

First quarter wrap

Defensive battle as expected. Each team has a costly turnover, and UNC has some momentum with a third and 2 at the UConn 28. I don't like the feel for the Huskies. UNC's defense is big and physical and they are having their way right now. Yates has been moving UNC through the air. Not much rushing for either team.

Update 12:45p.m.: Third and 2 and UNC runs it.Play is stuffed. UNC then misses FG from 44 yards. Not even close. Huskies luck out there. Defense is playing a heck of a game. Carolina has 12 rushes for 10 yards.

Update 12:53 pm: My god. Kanuch cant catch a first down and the tip is intercepted. A little high, but that's a catch you have to make. It wasn't a poor throw. UConn has two turn turnovers. Killing themselves here. Kanuch has to make that catch.UNC returns it to the 50.

Update 12:57 p.m.: UConn defense is playing a big time game. Lindsey Witten has 2 sacks, and Greg Lloyd had a nice sack on a delayed blitz. Can the offense not shoot itself in the foot?

Update 1:10 p.m.: Lindsey Witten is a nightmare for a depleted UNC line right now. He has 3 sacks. UConn defense is dominating, as is UNC's. A mistake from one team is going to win this game.

Update 1:17 p.m. 47 yard FG attempt to end half. The Great David Teggart nails it for a 3-0 Huskies lead. Boy, did the Huskies need that. 3-0 at the half.

Second quarter

It'sa defensive battle at the half. Teggart's field goal has to make UConn feel good. UNC is down 3 offensive linemen and it shows. I would say that the struggles on offense for UConn is more UNC than it is int he UConn offense. Kashif Moore took a big hit when he fumbled. The interception on Frazer was on Brad Kanuch. It didn't hit Kanuch in the numbers, but it was a good enough pass that it should have been caught. That was a killer, Kanuch was down inside the 20 for a first down. Frazer looks a little better today. Not much out there on offense, and it's more UNC than UConn. As far as thwe defense, Witten is an absolute monster. He has 2 sacks(should have another, pehaps a half sack, but I digress) in the first half and forced a fumble. He will see doube teams coming.

First half stats, Jordan Todman 52 yards on 12 rushes. Frazer 9-of-15 for 52 yards and one interception. UConn has held UNC to -17 yards rushing. Most of it on sacks by Witten. Shaun Draughn has 10 carries for 15 yards.

Update 1:42 pm: UConn 3rdand 5. False start. 3rd and 10, dropped first down by Isaih Moore. Bad opening for the Huskies.

Update 1:45 p.m.: How do you compelte a third and 20? That's just awful defense. Got to force the ball underneath.

Update 154 pm:  UConn drives stalls at the UNC 35. Cullen great punt to an awaiting Robbie Frey at the 1 yard line.

Update 1:58p.m.: Looks like Frazeris hurt. Endres has his helmet on and is warmed up. Frazer getting worked on by trainers. Frazer bag of ice on right knee. Endres coming in.

Update 2:12 pm: Twyon Martin catches a deflected pass by Robert McClain (great close) at the UNC 25. Todman goes in on the 4 yard line for a TD. The GreatTeggart makes it 10-0.

Third quarter

Patience is a virtue. Huskies offense didn't do much, but the defense turned UNC over and the HUskies scored a TD on the short field. Frazer is out and he seems to have a right knee injury. That's problematic for later, but as far as today,it shouldn't have much of an effect. Endres is 1-for-1. Defense coming up big. UNC is driving right now and is at their own 48. UConn has to rely on defense to bring this home.

Fourth quarter

Update 2:29 p.m.: UNC on the board with 22 yard field goal. Defense did a nice job late inthe dirve keeping UNC out of the endzone. 10-3 UCOnn, 10:56 left.

Update 2:35 p.m.: UConn just trying to hold on. 10-3 with Endres in there. Pups went three and out. Defenseis going to win this. Desi Cullen has had an incredible game punting.

Update 2:41 pm: UNC completes a third and 21. Huskies play way too soft in third and a mile.

Update 12:05 p.m.: Stull slips on third and 10. Lindsey Witten acts like he sacked him. No dice Lindsey. Huskies hold Pitt to 3 and out first possession.

Update 12:09 p.m.: Perfectly thrown out by Lorenzen to Easely for 20 yards. Easley somehow drops it. This is UConn in a nutshell. Hernandez also missed a diving catch on third and 15.. Tough catch, but it wasn't an awful throw. The Huskies need to make plays that are there.

Update 12:11: Teggart short on a 53 yard field goal. Too far off grass in the cold. First miss of his career. Ball was returned to the UConn 44. Poor coaching decision. Way to risky for three points.

Update 12:15 p.m.: Stull falls down again for a -7. Turf monster is getting a game ball. WOW. McCoy tackled by the the turf monster after a 3 yard gain on next play. Pittsburgh may not have brought their spikes.

Update 12:19 p.m.: All Pitt's skill guys are on the sidelines changing their spikes. That's bad pregame preparation.

Update 12:23 p.m.: Okay, I am not going to blog every play. But, you decline a third and one to get 2nd and 3. You then throw a flea flicker incomplete (Moore had a step ball need to be laid out, you need a big arm for that). Then on third and 3 you throw it short to Brad Kanuch who had not shot at catching the ball (bad throw). There was a penalty anyway, holding. Just saying. Maybe Huskies should run the Wing T or something.

Huskies defense is dominating. Pitt has 1 first down in first quarter. Huskies offense just can't get going. It's a little better than Pitts, Brown has 40 yards in first quarter, but they can't get anything consistent. Huskies need WRs to make some plays.

12:49 p.m.: Shocking, a punt block. The Huskies special teams is embarrassing. UConn has had six punts blocked this year. How do you win when you give Pitt the ball at the UConn 6? SIX BLOCKED PUNTS!

12:50 p.m.: Miraculously, the Huskies hold. 22 yard FG by Pitt. 3-0. Huskies are used to being in that position. The defense is playing at an elite level.

Update 1:03 p.m.: Huskies drive stalls at the 25. Dave Teggart from 45 yards is good. Huskies converted a pair of third and 5s with run plays. The third time they tried it on third and 6 they lost 6 yards. Huskies need to pass the ball. Eight in the box is turning into 9 in the box. Nine players within 15 yards. UConn is a Top 25 team with a mediocre passing game. UConn can't throw the ball. Still, 3-3 with 5:05 left in first half.

Update 1:09 p.m.: First break of game for UConn. Cody Brown forces fumble with Robert Vaughn recovering Huskies have ball in Pitt territory...

And they go three and out. My lord. The passing offense is worse than the numbers. I don't have an answer.

Update 1:18 p.m.: Off a Jasper Howard interception. Third down pass play completed to the two-yard line is negated by a hold. UConn just can't get going passing. It's a total collapse of the offensive passing game. UConn is 1-of-10 throwing for 4 YARDS.

Bowl talk. No update. Some stats. Lorenzen 1-of-10 for 4 yards at the half. Pitt has 36 total yards in first half.

Third quarter

Update 1:50 p.m.: Passing game is lagging.

Update 1:55 p.m.: McCoy 47 yard TD run. Tempted to be haughty and call it the ball game. But, Pitt goes 6 plays 87 yards. Defense still is in the half. Not the kind of start you want. Huskies have missed on their last 11 passes.

Update 2:02 p.m.: UConn's passing comedy continues. On third and 15, Anthony Sherman Falls down and Lorenzen 's pass (a perfect spiral) is picked off an is returned to the UConn 6 yard line. Not Lorenzen's fault, but the absolute ineptitude in the passing game continues.

Update 2:05 p.m.: UConn's defense holds Pitt to a field goal. 13-3 Pitt. Throw out the running game. The Huskies are still in it despite the best efforts of the offense and special teams. Defense is tremendous except for one play.

Update 2:11 p.m.: 57 yard TD run by Donald Brown. It's all Donald Brown. Huskies have some life. Great strength and great balance running down the sidelines. Brown will end regular season as nations leading rusher. 13-10 Pitt with 4:29 left in third quarter.

Update 2:16 p.m.: That may have been the game for Pitt. Derek Kinder on first play throws a 61 yard TD pass. Bad angle by Robert Vaughn and it was a catch and run of 61 yards for a TD. Wow, life has left this building. UConn had its big play. 20-10 Pitt. Huskies back in the same position.

Where did this explosion of offense come from?

Update 2:22 p.m.: Lorenzen intercepted. Trying to make something happen on a third and 9. Moore dropped a pass for a first down. Huskies can't throw the ball. There are no answers.

Update 2:28 p.m.: Huskies go three and out. Receivers aren't open, QB can't throw it. UConn has the nations leading rusher and the passing game is 4-of21, two interceptions for 22 yards? That's not competitive.

Update 2:29: GAME OVER. Stull to Nate Byham. Set up by an 18 yard punt. Pittsburgh has scored 24 points in the third quarter. Awful performance.

Huskies fell apart on defense and the offense was abysmal. 24 points in the third quarter? And UConn can't complete a pass. I can't tell you how great Donald Brown is.

Update 2:24 p.m.: Frazer in at QB. Too little to late.

Fourth quarter

Update 2:38 p.m.: Tipped ball. Frazer picked off at the 20. The passing numbers are going to be as ugly as you have ever seen it.

Update 2:42: Pittsburgh fumbles. The Panthers trying to keep UConn in the game.

Update 2:45 p.m.: Frazer throws a ball up for grabs. I don't know what kind of play that is. He is 0-for-3 with two picks. My head hurts. This is the worst QB/WR play I have ever seen.

Update 2:50 p.m.: Retiring the blog for the evening. I just don't have anything left it write. It's worse than the numbers indicate.

Update 2:53 p.m.: Check back. The futility continues. Pittsburgh interception returned for TD. Humbling loss for the Huskies. Frazer 0-for-4 3 INTs. I don't know what to make of this.

One thing is certain. The Huskies need a QB who can throw the ball, and they need WRs to get open. The performance today has been terrible.

4-of-25 for 22 yards and 5 INTs. This against a team that was soft passing.

Postgame Rutgers --Update Frazer "fuzzy"

Real brief before I write for our website. QB Zach Frazer is getting looked at by doctors. He wasn't available for interviews, but he did get up slow from a hit late in the game.

UConn didn't release what was getting checked out.

As far as mood of team?

Randy Edsall blamed the kicker and special teams.

"We made plays today that weren't very good,and we had a kicker who had a bad day," Edsall said.

Tony C was stand up

"It was a bad day,I take full responsibility,"Ciaravino said. "When I hit it,I thought it was good.Seeing it hit the post,it was upsetting."

D.Brown in second half rushing,13 carries for seven yards.

I asked Edsall about being conservative with the playcalling.He didn't think it was an important issue. I'll transcribe his thoughts later. I am going to write, drive home, and let the thoughts sink in.


Frazer Update: Before I head home. Frazer was a bit "fuzzy" after the game and was being reevaluated by UConn doctors. More will be known tomorrow during Randy Edsall's conference call. Frazer took a good shot and got up slow late in the game. He had a concussion earlier this year suffered during fall camp. Cody Endres is next in line.

Rutgers pregame

Pregame: It's a beautiful fall day in picturesque Piscataway. Nice cold chill. I hate this ride. I just can't stand driving through New Jersey. Sorry people. It's just a bunch of strip malls, traffic lights and no left turns.

Here is a preview of today's game. I can't believe it's light out and the Huskies are playing. That's what happens when you lose. I have a good feeling about today. Reading the Rutgers area papers and other research I think the Scarlet Knights are still searching. Perhaps homecoming fires the Scarlet Knights up. This is the season for Rutgers here. If that doesn't fire them up, nothing will.
I expect a close game,but as long as Frazer doesn't throw INTs I think the Huskies will be fine today-- 17-14.

Update 11:33 a.m.: Watching Huskies warm-up I see Andre Dixon in there going out in pass catching situations. Question: Where has the Dixon screen pass gone? It is halfway through the season and UConn has tried maybe once or twice. Why not got to some two back sets?

Considering the struggle at wide receiver, I think they should put Dixon in the slot. You know what? Just get the man the ball.

An incredible stat in the UConn notes. D.J.Hernandez's 100 yard game receiving against North Carolina two weeks ago was the first 100 yard receiving game by the Huskies since the MOTOR CITY BOWL (Keron Henry).

That is a span of 41 GAMES if UConn's stats are true. I can't remember a game that it wasn't since I have been covering the team.

I find this incredible. UConn is even in more desperate a need at WR than even I thought (and I have harped endlessly about this).

Pregame: This place is a sea of Carolina Blue. First time on campus,absolutely tremendous. Nothing beats an on campus stadium. This one is beautiful. Virginia was nice, this may even be better.

Update 7:08: Huskies win toss, and DEFER! Tremendous opening down here for the Tar Heels. The pregame pageantry of college football is awesome. Wish I was in the stands. The place is clad in light Carolina blue.

Update 7:40 pm: Bad throw by Frazer on INT. Never saw the LB. UNC takes over at the15 of UConn. Got to hold here. Frazer stared down D.J Hernandez on the slant.

Update 7:43 pm: TD UNC, 1 yard run by Ryan Houston. 10-3 Carolina. Turnovers,turnover,turnovers. 10-3. UConn can't panic here. Just relax. Still like the vibe. Almost had a fumble at the UConn 1. But, for second time this game a fumble was on the ground but UNC recovered it.

Difference is simply the Frazer INT. UNC intercepted pass, and two potential fumbles by UNC weren't recovered by UConn. 10-3 because of the turnover. UConn looks comfortable however.No more mistakes however. Brown carrying the load. Frazer looks poised. He can't stare down his receivers however. Brown, 40 first quarter yards. Frazer 5-8 28 yards, 1 INT.

Update 8 pm: Uh oh. third straight possession with no first down and then a blocked punt. UNC has ball at the UConn 19.What's up with the punt blocking? UConn is now on the ropes.Has to hold to a field goal here or they are in trouble. Offense can't get a first down.

Update 8:04: Jasper Howard a great int? UConn on the brink, Cody Brown brings pressure and Sexton throws an INT. Get one or two first downs here and then your fine.

Update 8:14pm: Embarrassing special teams performance by UConn. Another block punt this time for a TD. 17-3. That's going to be the ball game folks. On three punts, Cullen has had two of them blocked and one tipped. It's as bad a special teams as you have ever seen.UConn its own self destructive force. Penatlies, turnovers, and punt protection are why UConn is down.The minus plays are staggering.

Update 8:34pm: At UNC 9 yardline and Kashif Moore has the ball tips off his hands. Bad play by Kashif. Ball should have been caught. 17-3 at the half. Horrible first half for the Huskies.

Halftime wrap

UConn is its own worst enemy tonight. Officially, three punts are blocked, two resulted in essentially turnovers(first one was tipped and went 47 yards). The TD on the punt block is a back breaker. Penalties are killing the Huskies. 17-3, both touchdowns are off a punt block, and off a drive that started at the UConn 15. But, even the Frazer INT (Moore's fault) at the end of the half illustrates how frustrating this is for UConn. Frustrating first half. UNC is right there. These teams are even.

Can't win anywhere with that type of negative plays. I will say, I don't think the game is over as I stated above. UConn just has no margin of error anymore. Two INTs, penalties galore, dropped passes, didn't grab two fumbles on the ground and THREE blocked punts (really 2, but how come this is a problem?). How is this only 17-3?

Some stats, Frazer 12-of-22 100 yards. I think expect for maybe 2 3 throws, he has looked good. It's on the receivers to run good patterns, and to catch it. You can' have a ball tip off your hands. Brown, if you take away some holding calls, would be over 100 again already. Very poor job by UConn in the first half.

Update 9:05: Frazer with several nice throws on the opening drive. Looks comfortable.Don't like running the ball on 3rd and 9. It was a pitch to Brown,meant to be misdirection. That's a lot of yards to get. Got to pass it. Still,Tony C short field goal 17-6.

Update 9:12pm: Delay as one of the lights went out. They can play in this. Don't know why they aren't. Uh ohh, second one went out. What's the procedures now?

Update 9:18 pm: No idea what's going on or how long it will take. Crowd is doing the wave. One bulb on top of the tower. 20 minute delay as the lights warmup. Way to ruin the game. Don't understand why they can't play.

Update 9:23 pm: Game was just ruined. Flow is important, UConn stopped UConn first down. Now what? Kung Fu fighting is playing in the press box. This is surreal. I am looking for the dancing girls. Should go get some food. Why isn't the UNC band playing anything?They are a band aren't they? Presumably, they know some songs. Maybe I just complain too much.

Update 9:39: 39 yard TD run by UNC's Draughn. 24-6 UNC. That's the ball game folks barring a miracle. The special team have been horrible. Cullen shanked a punt and UNC got the ball at their own 43. Don't know Draughn went untouched. Bad play.

Update 10:04. UConn own worstenemy. Blow out city with Frazer not taking a sack that resulted in a 22-yard INT return as he tried to just get rid of the ball. What you going to do? Disappointing performance. 38-6 right now. A humbling experience.

Update 10:08: That's going to be it for live blogging. Will be back later after the game. Very disappointing performance. Frazer's performance wasn't bad, and he will improve.

Pregame: Just got in. Beautiful day if that is any solace to those back in rain-infested New England. 80 degrees, partly cloudy. As we know, Alex Polito is out of action, left home in Storrs. Cardinal Stadium is nice, UConn should paint those bleachers blue. That would help with effect. We'll see what happens.

Awful first half defensively for UConn. Somehow managed to get a 10-0 lead on Brown's shoulders, but the defense can't stop me. 324 yards of offense.

Lorenzen is out for the game. This is becoming a nightmare for UConn.

Third quarter

Update 9:50: UConn is shell-shocked. Frazer fumble on first down,goes -1,and then gets pressured. Huskies have to be careful here. Louisville gets ball at the L45.

Update 9:56: Huskies defense is a sieve. 21-10 Louisville. Gut check time for UConn. It's going to be tough. This is where you find out who you can count on and who you can't. Defense has been embarrassed here.

Update 10:02: Never had a chance. Brown fumbles first pitch,Cards take over on the UConn 31. The wheels have officially come off.


Update 10:03 pm: Lorenzen (right foot) out, Steve Brouse (leg) out, Witten is down on the field down, don't expect him back.

Update 10:13: 9 plays 72 yards, Frazer first TD pass to Butler 21-17. Showed some zip on the pass. Late hit kept drive alive. UConn has life 21-17!

Update 10:18: Battle of backup QBs. Cantwell on the bike. This is a crazy game.

Update 10:31: Great play by Cullen and Terry Baltimore. Cards pinned back at their own 3.

Update 10:36: Powell52 yard run. You have to have a better defense than this.That is inexcusable. May have cost UConn the game even if they don't score. Huskies hold on for a punt,but they lost field position.

Update 10:50 p.m.: Butler injured. Whatis going on here? Ambrose has been in a zone calling plays.


Update10:53: Plays stalls at the 12. Tony C 31 yard field goal 21-20. Defense needs to play here. 15 plays 68 yards. Marcus Easley was open for a second,but the ball was a little behind him, and he didn't seal the defender. Game is in the defenses hands.

11:04 pm: Lawrence Wilson 45 yard INT return for a touchdown. Incredible turn of events.

Live Blogging Baylor!

UPregame: Radio gig on the Big Ticket in Louisville went well. The hosts were at the Ryder Cup at Valhalla. And, they were talking to me? The update guy broke in about how Phil Mickelson was doing and then they went to my spot. Ryder Cup and then John Silver? Hope their audience didn't tank. Had a lot of fun however.

Edit 8 p.m.: Baylor's depth chart -- Playing the IR position is Thomas White. Playing the IBH is Jay Finley...What?

Edit 8:05p.m.: UConn wins toss. Will receive. Amazing. Finally this game is getting started. Hate late games.

Edit 8:11 p.m.: Lorenzen INT in endzone going to Butler. Awful. Stared down receiver. Great job,lost points.

Update 8:23: Griffin 16 yard TD pass to Akers. 7-0 Baylor.

First quarter wrap

UConn a little off by the INT. Looking better now. Got to ride Brown and get Griffin off the field on third down. Griffin is a major athlete.

Update 8:49 p.m.: Lorenzen 7-yard touchdown run. Good drive. Lorenzen hit Kashif Moore for 19 yard pass and they are riding Heisman Brown -- 13 rushes,71 yards so far. 7-7.


Update 9:02: Terrible job by UConn defense. Missed tackle to allow a first down on third and 9. Running back dive is killing them. Also, Lawrence Wilson can't cover a wide receiver. Kendall Wright has killed Wilson three times in coverage. Griffin 14 yard TD pass to Akers for a 14-7 Baylor lead.

Update 9:15 p.m.: Brown, Brown, Brown.21 carries 103 yards in the first half. Brown, 1 yard TD run,14-14 with 3:14left in first half. Just ride Brown.

Second Quarter wrap

We have a ball game. Brown 112 yards rushing in the first half. UConn199 total yards, Baylor 201 total yards.

UConn needs to do two things -- take care of the ball and get off the field on third down. Baylor is 4-6 on third downs in the first half. Also, LB Lawrence Wilson struggling in coverage, it might be time to play more defensive backs. UConn has five drives and three of them went inside the 10-yard line.

Offense is ok. Defensively, they have to limit the big play,especially on third and long.

Update 9:57p.m.:Defense holds Baylor to a 3 and out. Good pass by Lorenzen that nearly went for a touchdown to Moore. Right through his fingers. Had to settle for FG of 39 yards by Tony C. 17-14 UConn.

Update 10 p.m.:Memo to coaches. Do you need to put a linebacker on Kendall Wright? Another big play, this time off Lutrus.

Update 10:04 p.m: Griffin 2 yard touchdown. Defense just struggling today. 21-17. 8 play 72 yard drive in 3:22. Not good.

Update 10:11pm: D-But with a key19 yard third down catch. He is the team's best receiver (no slight on the other guys). Lorenzen 34-yard TD run. Great run by Lorenzen. 24-21 UConn. Good game.

Update 10:24p.m.: Lorenzen intercepted,sixth on the year. was in FG range, barely. Bad play.

Fourth quarter

Update 10:35 pm: Butler roughing the passer,negates big-time Deleston INT. WOW. Game changer right there. Kendall Wright two plays later,on another linebacker,Greg Lloyd. 28-24 Baylor.

Update 10:44: UConn needs a stop. No passing game again and Baylor has stopped Brown.UConn goes 3 and out. Ball on Baylor 5.

Update 10:55 pm: Brown 3 yard TD run. Defense comes up big. 31-28 UConn, six lead changes in this game.It's over for me for live blogging, gotta pay the bills.

First quarter

Update 7:23 p.m.: Place 1/2 full. After spending 15 minutes tailgating,the problem is not fans. It's traffic flow and distance. Impossible to get in early unless you leave tailgate 40 minutes before gametime. Not possible any other way.

Update 7:43: Brown 3-yard TD run 7-0 UConn. Powerful first drive with the ground game. Jordan Todman got his first carry.

First quarter wrap: Dominating opening quarter by the Huskies. Huskies at the UVa 10 ready to go in for their second TD. 85 yards on 15 rushes. Lorenzen looks sharp with 42 yards scrambling and accurate passes. Defense was tremendous on the one Uva drive they had. Place is packed. The crowd is loud. UConn is fired up. Lorenzen 8-8, 60 yards passing and42 rushing.


Update 8:07: Anthony Davis 3-yard TD catch. Good catch. 14-0 UConn. Virginia showing no signs of life. 13 plays, 77 yards. 7:04. 14-0 UConn.

Update 8:20: Brown breaks 63 yard run. Darius Butler 13-yard end around for TD. 21-0 UConn. Lorenzen 9-9. This one is at a tipping point.

Update 8:39: Name the score, 28-0 on Brown 8-yard TD run. UConn is annihilating the Cavaliers. Lorenzen 11-11, 122 yards passing. Brown, 15 carries, 112 yards 2 TDs.

Lorenzen 11-of-11 for 122 yards and a touchdown. Brown 112 yards on 15 carries and two touchdowns. Darius Butler has a 29-yard catch, a 13 yard TD run and several tackles and a 30 yard return on a kickoff. Domination.

Update 9:18: Uva comes out throwing. UConn holds inside the red zone for a 42 yard field goal. 28-3.

Update 9:37: Donald Brown 63 yard TD run. One word: EXPLOSIVE!

Update 9:43 p.m.: Jordan Todman 14-yard TD run set up by a Lawrence Wilson INT. Todman, fast, very fast. 42-3 UConn.
