Be back tommorrow

I got to hit the bed.

Tough loss for the Huskies. This year is going to really frustrate the players. Mistakes are what is dooming the Huskies, not ability. UConn's margin of error is so slight, one error, and it seems to cost UConn more than other teams.

Except for UNC, the other three losses you can point to maybe 1 or 2 plays a game that turn things around.

Here is a line from my story:

The Huskies had two big plays the entire game. Lorenzen found fullback Anthony Sherman for a 28 yard catch and run and a trick play, a double reverse flea-flicker, resulted in a 43-yard touchdown pass from Lorenzen to Ellis Gaulden to tie the game at 10-10 in the third quarter.

The other 65 plays went for 187 yards and average of 2.8 per play. The leading receiver was Sherman, with four catches for 45 yards.

Folks, it's simple. UConn needs playmakers at WR or TE. Tyler Lorenzen didn't have a great game, but I am not sure there were a ton of open targets anyway. Check out the keys to the game. UConn did none of it.They needed some big plays today, and they got only two. And,one was a gimmick.

Here is Edsall on it:

“When you have to do that (the flea-flicker) and manufacture big plays it makes it hard, you have to be very exact,” Edsall said. “We got to get guys who can make big plays.”

I have to go to bed. Looks like Greg Lloyd won't be with the team for the season finale.

I hate night games, especially this late. I will give some more info tomorrow. If I was a Huskies die-hard,I would be disappointed this morning.

Chow.

can you comment on the uconn bowl options in light of this loss?

Do you think Lorenzen should've been replaced by Frazier on that last drive? When you have a guy who can't throw the ball more than 5 yards on these quick passes, don't you want a QB that can manufacture something? I'm not sure how Edsall expected Lorenzen to march us down the field.

If Rutgers beats Louisville and ND loses to USC....ND is out of the Big East bowl picture. For UConn, that puts Charlotte back in the mix. And even the Sun Bowl if WVU falters.

Needed a day to control my anger and disappointment. I can't believe how awful UCONN looked Sunday night. I'm a Tyler fan but man, you have to be able to throw it downfield and with touch. Maybe it's the receivers but he's so mechanical sometimes. I wish him well against Pitt and in the future bowl game. Go Huskies
