At Heinz. Beautiful stadium. Great tailgating though I am somehow the only one with a parking pass for the media not in the garage (got about a 1/2 walk to the stadium. Just one of many disasters on my trip. It seems my luck hasn't changed since locking my keys in my car on Thursday night. More later...)
Anyhow back to the game. No word yet on lineup changes.
First quarter
Update: Defense right off the bat! Cody Brown sack. Nice job by Danny Lansanah on the pick. Lou Allen rumbles in for 1-yard TD and 7-0 score.
Pitt crows cheers. Why? Michigan 14, Penn State 9.
Update 7:46 p.m.: Pat Bostick warming
First quarter recap: Defense is blowing up Pitt. Offense is steady but has missed some opportunities to go up even more. 10-0, got to like Pitt panicking.
Second Quarter
Update 8:13 p.m.: All McCoy on Pitts TD drive. Wildcat is a gimmick, but it keeps D off balance. Lansanah was destroyed on the TD run. Even better on the Huskies side. Great answer with a TD drive of their own. Get Tyler some time to throw and he will pick apart a defense.
17-7 Pups. Gotta like that.
Update: 8:28: Huskies rolling. Lorenzen picking Pitt apart 7-of-7 for 116 yards in the 2nd quarter. Lou Allen's 2nd TD, 24-7 Huskies. Maybe these guys are pretty good.
Update 8:33 p.m.: WOW! Williams sacked and forced fumble and Robert McClain recovery with 17 seconds left on Pitt 30. Tony C 39 yard field goal 27-7.
Pitt crowd boos.
Second quarter roundup: Lorenzen showing why he is so highly regarded. Pitt's in shock. 27-7 Huskies at the break. Show no sign of slowing down. Everything clicking right about now.
Third quarter roundup
Huskies playing conservatively on offense and not much doing. That's fine. Defense is stout and you don't want to make any major mistakes. Panthers can't move the ball. Why help them?
Fourth quarter
Update 9:37 p.m.: Lawrence Wilson 51-yard TD return for a touchdown. GOOD NIGHT IRENE. 34-7 Pittsburgh.
Roundup: Great game by the Huskies, it may be the best performance by the team since 2004. I am not sure Dan O and company ever had a win like this. A road win at Pittsburgh? The Big East is tougher and much better now.
This is a kind of win that makes people sit up and notice.
I am stunned.
