It's been a long day.

On the call with Randy Edsall you could hear the pride in his voice.

UConn, with 4 players drafted in the first day of the NFL Draft. Hell, I didn't hear a single name from Michigan, Notre Dame or Miami. Go figure.

Donald Brown to the Colts. Butler to the Patriots, an incredible fit. And then Beatty to my Giants and Cody Brown to the Cardinals.

That is stuff that isn't supposed to happen. 4 picks in the top 64? How did they go 8-5 (won't answer that now...)

Here is Edsall:

"To have the 27, 41, 60, 63 pick in this draft says a lot about the player themselves and coaches. It does a lot for our program. It is a great day."

Here is Donald Brown, who wore a UConn shirt and had a UConn blanket on his couch that all could see on ESPN.

"It’s an honor. I wear that shirt today with great pride being from the University of Connecticut. There will be many more first round picks coming from that program.”

Brown is going to Indy tomorrow for a presser.

Randy Edsall and Bill Polian talked extensively about Brown when he was deciding to come out. They never did talk to Brown. There were rumblings though. A certain team Edsall didn't identify (cough Cardinals) were concerned that Brown wouldn't be there and that Indy would take them. These teams did their research, they just didn't actually talk to Brown.

Is that a good spot or what?

As far as Butler, that's a great pick and Darius is ecstatic according to Edsall. Butler is going to a great spot. Here is Edsall on Butler.

"To have Darius up at New England with Darius it’s a great fit for Darius,” Edsall said. "“Darius has all the ingredients to go up there. He has all the ability, depends on what they want to do with them. He can do anything that they want him to do.”

Edsall also talked extensively to the Giants about Will Beatty and Cody Brown. Beatty goes to a place where he doesn't have to start.

Will has tremendous ability, and backing up Diehl for a year is perfect. To have a guy of Beatty's ability to grow into a position is tremendous for both players.

Edsall heard from the Cardinals right before they were going to draft Cody Brown. Cody Brown was a player they liked a lot. They isn't a huge need for Cody Brown in Arizona, and that means they most have liked him an awful lot.

Edsall said that tommorrow he is hoping that Dahna Deleston and Julius Williams get drafted. He said that Keith Gray and Tyler Lorenzen are also in good shape at getting camp invites. \
